Birthday Show

Hello Mr. Turner,

In regards to the contest that was held on the US tour to decide the location of your birthday gig in December: Any word yet on who the winner is?

Cheers,
Steve

Yes. Me. I'm spending my birthday at my flat.
Shows? All of em.

Hmph. All that effort spent jumping up at just the right moment, and dancing like its the last time I ever will, for naught. Heartbroken.

Can me and my mate Steve come to your flat?

We've got kids so the peace and tranquility in the flat would be quite nice, you could even strum your guitar, and Steve would probably bring a quiche (he's just turned fifty so I guess that's what you do?)

I've got no kids, can't make a quiche for shit, and you've aged me by a decade. Other than that, I'm in!

Cheers,
Steve

He appears to enjoy toying with us.

What I found odd was that there was going to be jelly at the party. Jelly? I had to google to figure out that's the UK term for what we refer to as gelatin or Jell-O. I don't really think of that as a thing that gets served along side your birthday cake, unless it's a part of the cake itself. Jell-O poke cake is delicious (make cake; poke holes in it; cook jell-O and pour it over cake so it fills the holes; chill and then enjoy).

I had assumed he was referring to Jell-O shots.

Jelly (jell-o) and ice cream are a staple at children's birthday parties in the UK

Interesting. I can't say I've ever had jelly and ice cream together, at a birthday party or anywhere else. Am I missing out? Cake and ice cream is the usual thing where I come from. Can't speak for all of the US though.

Yup, jelly and ice cream is possibly one of the tastiest things in the world. You're massively missing out.

Even better when you're older and it's vodka jelly and ice cream

Well it just so happens that I have a package of jell-O and some ice cream in the house, and tomorrow is the annual day of gluttony (Thanksgiving). Clearly I need to add this to the dessert menu along with the pumpkin and apple pies. No vodka needed.
