Songbook Versions

Post by NickSouthampton » Mon Nov 27, 2017 3:42 pm

Hi Frank,

I’m really enjoying the Songbook versions. I prefer many of them to the originals; I think they seem more intimate. There is a vulnerability that adds another layer to the song.

I’d be interested to know if all of these “new” melody lines were actually new. I wondered if you originally wrote some of them this way and then reworked them to make them more accessible or perhaps suitable for live performance.

One other question, have you considered talking to a song writing podcast such as https://www.sodajerker.com/podcast/, I’d be very interested to learn more about your writing process.

Looking forward to sensible Sunday next year.
Nick in "Sunny" Southampton.

Thanks. the new melody lines are mostly just improvised in the studio really. Song podcasts are pretty cool; haven't been asked to do any as yet.
Shows? All of em.
