Bowling for Soup

Post by oakworth » Thu Sep 19, 2013 8:50 pm

Hey Frank,

My son tells me that BFS have a new song, titled 'normal chicks'. It includes the line:

'I like you in your ripped jeans and Frank Turner shirt'. Is this your first name check?

They were my first ever gig at Rock City (which was an interesting gig) and my younger me is tempted to see them on their farewell tour.

I'm going to the farewell tour, although I dont understand the concept given they're not splitting. Average music, but a fun night.

I just thought they weren't going to tour the UK any more.

That's it, the last UK tour, with others continuing. Presumably they can't make UK tours pay.

Ok, so I've heard the 'song'. New question:

Hey Frank,

will you be taking out an injunction to remove your name from such a god awful song?

Made worse by the fact they positively name check Motley Crew in there also!

Technically, they aren't naming HIM, they are naming the shirt, hence...advertising. (I haven't even heard the song hahaha)

my friends band is opening for them on their farewell tour (local boys from long island, called Patent Pending!) so if you do end up at the gig hopefully you can catch them too :)

I stood next to two of them while watching Frank at Donington. Twice (as he played a show backstage as well and they were at that too). Got talking. Nice guys.

It's BFS, they are just plain simple fun happy punk. They're just about the most fun band out there. They know themselves that their music isn't ever gonna be the best, but it's fun and that's what entertaining is about.

They remind me a lot of Beans on Toast, It's happy songs about getting drunk, hanging out with friends and sex. It's not to be over interpreted.

That said, I fcuking Love BFS. Have for years..... Belgium is my go to song for sadness. :D
I'd rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know.
