Thanks anyway Sami! Kiitos!

I won´t sit down, I won´t shut up and most of all I will not grow up!
Re: Finland in winter
For beers in Helsinki I'd suggest Loose. It's really close to Tavastia too.Ida-Malena wrote:Hey guys! We´re coming to Finland for the first time to see Frank in Åbo and Helsinki, do you have any "tourist" tips for us in between the gigs, where should we go and what should we see? And where should we go to have a beer before the gig?
Tourist tips..hmm...I'd stay away from Suomenlinna as Thursday and Friday are going to be pretty cold and you'll freeze your ass off strolling around that island.
Depends what you're into really. Some areas you might want to visit could be Kallio (=Bit of a bohemian area north of the city center. Cheaper beer than rest of Helsinki) and Punavuori (south of city center, lots of small speciality shops and lots of bars, "design district" or "hipster district")
Then there's the basic stuff: Couple churches, couple market squares, modern arts museum etc

Dont know much about what to do in Turku except drink beer (this is the plan!). I guess the old castle and the old church are the biggest sights. For bars, walk around the market square (cant miss it, everything is around that) and you'll find something.
Hope you have a nice trip over. See you in Turku and Helsinki

Awesome, thanks! "Loose" seems like a really cool place, definitely have to go there! Also nice to hear about those more "bohemian" areas
I actually wanted to see Suomenlinna (as the history geek I am) but yeah, we have to come back in the summer for that I think!
Kiitos for the tips and see ya (maybe
at the gigs!

Unfortunately I was sick last week, so I do have to work on Thursday. No Turku for me.eh wrote:The only time Frank's been here with the Sleeping Souls was on a Sunday night and it was still a great gig, so a Friday night should be something else. I'm still hoping I can avoid working on Thursday and Friday so I can see the Turku and Tampere gigs as well.
But the client I'm working with is moving to a new office and we were told not to come to work on Friday. Which means I can go to Tampere on Thursday, I guess.
You have checked out the official tourist information sites of Helsinki and Turku, right?Ida-Malena wrote:Hey guys! WikiTravel's Helsinki page is pretty nice as well.
I haven't spent enough time in Turku to say whether the same can be said about its entry on WT, but at least the restaurant recommendations are good enough. I recommend checking at least one of the bars built in a former a) public toilet, b) pharmacy, c) bank and d) school. I'm not sure how Dynamo is during the week, but on weekends it's a nice "alternative" nightclub.

Hi,
I really want to go to see FT in Helsinki, I love his music and I already have tickets. But now I'm start to wondering am I some kind of freak there then, 51 years old woman maybe even alone among all these young people. Is there usually any other older people?
