1. Muse at Leeds/Reading (I'm cheating and counting this as one since I can never decide which was better), Aug. 26/28
2. Muse at Lollapalooza, Chicago, Aug. 5
3. Frank at TLA in Philadelphia, Nov. 4
4. Frank at Leeds/Reading (first time I ever heard him), Aug. 26/28
5. Biffy Clyro at Rock N Roll Hotel in Washington, D.C., Feb. 10
Lots of honorable mentions; this was a great year in gigs for me. Think I saw more bands in 2011 than in the other 29 years of my life combined.
2011: 8/26, 28, 11/4(x2); 2012: 2/21, 22, 23, 24, 3/9, 11, 12, 18, 9/8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 28, 29, 30; 2013: 6/5, 6, 7(x2), 8, 7/26, 31, 8/1, 2, 10/4, 5, 11/16, 19, 29(X2). 2014: 6/4. 2015: 3/8, 9(x2), 5/12, 13, 14, 15. 18

I'm going for festival sets as I went to far too many fantastic gigs last year to be able to narrow them down to a top 5.

1) Elbow - Glastonbury
2) Muse - Leeds Fest
3) Frank Turner - Lock Up Tent, Leeds Fest
4) Joy Formidable - Dot To Dot Festival
5) Blondie - Splendour

Honourable mention to The Petebox at Leeds Fest

This is fairly easy for me cos I only went to 5 or 6 in 2011.

1. Frank Turner - 23/11/11 Newport, despite Against Me not being able to play this was the clear best of the bunch

2. Roger Waters 'The Wall' - 28/06/11 Birmingham, great spectacle, not quite the passionate performance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkfV6070abM&noredirect=1

3. Show of Hands 03/12/11 @ Exeter Uni (any show where a song is dedicated to you has to make the top 5)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-qRA7JV64E

4. Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes @ Cardiff Glee Club 24/10/11 (Gotta love Southside if you're a Bruce fan)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oGSGS0X4cY

5. Gary US Bonds & Ben E King (classic Soul tour) at Yeovil in February (the oldies still have it)

Also saw Joe Bonamassa @ Plymouth, The Max Weinberg Experience at Chelsea's 'Under The Bridge' & Show of Hands (again) at Exmouth.

went to so many good gigs in 2011 that this is almost impossible to pick 5, but i've chosen them on overall experience (which probably means the ones i drank the most at!)

1 frank - manchester apollo
2 beans on toast/tribes/admiral fallow/daydream club - sunday y-not festival
3 turin brakes - the musician, leicester
4 the subways/young aviators - the venue, derby
5 band of horses/goldheart assembly - academy, birmingham
Shows? nowhere near enough of 'em!

Frank/Crazy Arm/Cosmo Jarvis - White Rabbit, Plymouth (The smallest venue I'll ever see Frank play and one I hope he visits again! What could be better than seeing Frank play a tiny nightclub with a stage that serves cheap booze? Why that venue being a ten minute stagger from your front door, of course)
Pulp headlining Wireless
An Evening with Frank - Komedia, Bath
The Feeling (Don't judge me!)/Pete Lawrie (Who really impressed me) - Komedia, Bath (A venue I'd kill to move brick-by-brick to Plymouth)
Reel Big Fish - HMV Forum

Those last two were more the whole night though really.
This the one with Jonny Gill and Halloe away?

I think I actually fell slightly in love with halloe away that night.. even if I did have to rush home early for the train :/

My top 5?
1. Marwood+OT - The Garrett. Something about gigs, pool tables and human pyramids just gets to me.
2. Elbow - Leeds Festival. Slightly drunk, shouting at the rain, with my best friends.. What's not to love?
3. The above mentioned Marwood & OT gig.
4. Yeah, I didn't gig much this year! Ah well, new years resolutions and all that!
5. See above.
The 15th of every month - Cats And Weird Animals Day.

Yeah that one. All the basement gigs I've been to have sort of blurred into one and I can't remember which ones Halloe Way were. If they are who I'm thinking of I don't think I was very impressed...
