The Next Storm - radio play

Post by marowak » Tue Jul 14, 2015 8:58 am

Over the last week it feels like the air play for The Next Storm has ramped up loads and I find myself nodding along happily to it.
I also heard Steve Lamacq playing Get Better on his show last week.

All very pleasing and makes me excited to hear all of PSFNP

I heard it on Team Rock radio the other week. I've never heard them play a Frank song before so I was quite surprised

A colleague of mine recently asked for a link as she was curious to hear something by Frank since I am always going on about him.
She is German so I sent her the 'Rock am Ring' link. She really liked it but asked, "How could I know him if he is never on the radio?"
It made me realize that there are still people who get new music solely from the radio….

It's impossible but you have to choose the stations wisely. ^^

Every time I see this thread I keep thinking I somehow missed the news that frank wrote a radio play, and I start hearing the voice of the standard Radio 4 continuity announcer in my head introducing it.

So what is the plot of the radio play? I'm thinking Russian Revolution

This isn't about TNS radio play but I didn't feel like opening up a new topic.

Flux Fm is having Frank play some of his favourite tracks: https://www.fluxfm.de/frank-turner-ohrspiel/

You can listen to it online today at 7 pm (CEST) and tomorrow at 10 pm.

To those of us in the US - has anyone heard any song off the new album played on the radio yet? Here in the DC/Baltimore area, I haven't, yet.

I'm in D.C and haven't heard anything yet though I don't listen to much radio since it's pretty much all shit. Apparently DC101 Elliot in the Morning has played The Next Storm a few times so that's encouraging. I'm sure as the Rams Head and 9:30 Club shows get closer they'll be more airplay.

Whilst I've not heard it on the radio yet, I have noticed that The Next Storm and Mittens are on at least some pub jukeboxes now :)

Haven't heard anything yet here in Los Angeles. Having listened to our most established "alternative" rock (stupid label) station (KROQ) for the last twenty years, and having witnessed what a frustrating song and dance marketing singles to their finicky program directors can be [my desk happened to be in the radio promotions office when I interned at Epitaph in 2001-2003], I have this feeling that they would be more likely to put "Get Better" into the rotation than "The Next Storm." I can't really explain why; it's just a feeling I have. KROQ is a big trendsetter nationwide as far as new rock radio goes, so I imagine (hope) if they pick up any of the singles, other radio markets will follow suit. (They did play "Recovery" for a bit when TDH came out, but it didn't really take off the way I thought it deserved to.)

In any case, the band is coming back to town in October, so we'll soon see if KROQ decides to start promoting their music in relation to those shows...
Brevity is not my forte.

102.1 The Edge in Toronto are playing it (they love Frank!), and The Spectrum on Sirius XM satellite radio has recently started playing it quite a lot.
