New album

Post by Kplusc » Sat Nov 29, 2014 10:20 am

According to the setlist of Frank's two previous shows, we know now what the tracklist of the new album will be!!!

1 - The Angel Islington
2 - Get Better
3 - Out of Breath
4 - The Next Storm
5 - Glorious You
6 - Mittens
7 - The Opening Act of Spring
8 - Demons
9 - Josephine
10 - Love 40 Down
11 - Silent Key
12 - Song for Josh

What are you thoughts? I know that all those songs have now live footages on Youtube but I've succeeded in restraining myself to listen to them...
Except for "Song for Josh" and damn... It's already one of my favorite, so heartbreakingly magnificent. I didn't know who Josh was, but after hearing that song I instantly
googled It to collect some infos about, what seems to be, a great great person.

I also know that "Least of young caroline", "Cleopatra of Brooklyn" and "Little Aphrodite" are new songs...Maybe they will be among the bonus tracks.

I was really into Josephine , Mittens , Get Better from the saint vitus performance. But my hands down favorite from that one was The Next Storm. that song made me think alot about my past.

Can't say I can really comment since the songs aren't even recorded yet. I have faith in Frank that this will be another great record.

You can't go wrong with Frank...I don't think he will make a bad record one day...No,no,no. However, the question I often ask myself is :

Is he going to be able to top England Keep My Bones??? Or was that record the paroxysm of his talent?

Of the ones I have heard 'The opening act of spring' and 'Song for Josh' are my favourites.

"The Opening act of spring" what an elegant title...Reminds me of Walt Whitman poetry.

Except for "Song for Josh"
Restraining oneself is hard though, isn't it ? But so far I've succeeded with it as well, except for "Song for Josh", which I found a while ago and the two songs I heard Frank play during the concerts I've been to this year. Figured if I've already heard them live they are fair game to watch/listen to on Youtube :D. Those two songs were "Get Better" and "The Next Storm". I really liked "Next Storm", but "Get Better" might be my absolute all time favourite of Frank's songs so far. The live version, just Frank and his guitar, is so powerful already, I'm really curious how it will sound in the studio/on the album.

Trying to do the same myself, but the Saint Vitus gig came up in the shuffle the other day. What could I do...

Giving their positions on the tracklist, I think Get Better and Out Of Breath will both be fast-paced strong choruses singles...

Out Of Breath will be the Four Simple Words of this new one, and Get Better the Recovery :D That's just a guess

So glad "Song for Josh" made it on the album. I feel privileged to have been at the 9:30 Club for the live taping and am hoping that version was used since it was such appropriate tribute. Like so many other people from the D.C area and beyond I was lucky enough to have a few brief chats with Josh at shows; what a class act!

So for those who were at Hereford, or have heard a lot of the new songs, what does the album sound like? Do the songs share a particular style?

I'm more interested in who in Nashville is producing it and who in Chicago didn't get to.

I've been really curious too. Of course he only flew to Nashville. Muscle Shoals is close by with some awesome producers. Hmmm.

I've almost created a topic about that, But then I changed my mind and I'm eventually asking it here...
It's been on my mind for a while and I'd like to know your opinion about that :

- Do you think that Frank can top England Keep My Bones?

Or will this album be his masterpiece? The paroxysm of his talent...?

And also which studio it is (Blackbird? Southern Ground?).
