i-Pod shuffle
I just saw the tweet where a German magazine asks Frank to shuffle his i-Pod and talk about the first five songs that come up.
I love stuff like that. Just tried it myself and this is what I got:
1. Higher in time - the Waterboys
I am a big fan and have 301 songs by them on my i-Pod, so no surprise.
2. Lungs - Townes Van Zandt
Quietly chuffed that this should come up.
3. Arawan - Tinariwen
I have lots of world music and Tinariwen are one of the best world music bands, though I don't like the label (isn't everywhere part of the world?).
4. Freedom for my people - U2
Mmmm, 38 second track from "Rattle and hum"; perhaps not the best U2 track to surface.
5. Grad - Baroness
Downloaded that while getting ready for Roskilde two years ago.
Anyone want to try and write about what comes up?

Re: i-Pod shuffle
At risk of this being entirely Frank, here goes:
1. Ben Marwood - Five Little Secrets
I love Ben, and I love this.
2. My Chemical Romance - Early Sunsets Over Monroeville
Early My Chem at it's best.
3. Linkin Park - In The End
Recent edition to my iPod after years of not listening to it. I love it.
4. Frank Turner - English Curse
I knew it was only a matter of time before Frank cropped up!
5. Jim Lockey And The Solemn Sun - Mothers & Fathers
One of my favourite songs on Atlases, happy this made an appearance!
That's actually a pretty good representation of music I love!

I'm no good at thinking of something funny enough for these things.

Re: i-Pod shuffle
30 Seconds To Mars - The Kill - Not one I often listen to but used to be a big fan when I was younger.
Fleetwood Mac - You Make Loving Fun - Not a track I'm too familiar with, will listen to it after this!
Frank Turner - Build Me Up Buttercup - Lovely cover.
Green Day - Sick of Me - Was waiting for Green Day to show up, not one I really listen to as it's on Shenanigans (collection of B sides).
Bob Dylan - It Ain't Me, Babe - Only recently got into Dylan and love his stuff.

1, Turbowolf - A Rose For The Crows
Discovered this Bristol band in 2012, love them and this is my favourite song off their self-titled album. Hoping that they release another album this year, or at the very least tour again. For fans of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.
2. The Futureheads - Thursday
This is off their second album which pretty much everyone decided was a let down after their fantastic debut album, but its still not bad. They reworked this song into an a cappella style for their last album 'Rant' and I prefer that version.
3. The Decemberists - Infanta
The first track from my favourite album of theirs, 'Picaresque' Any album that starts with the sound of an elephant goes down well in my book. I think its an album that everyone should own. I got into The Decemberists when a friend put their song 'Engine Driver' on a compilation CD for me.
4. Beastie Boys - Slow Ride
Not my favourite one on the album, but you can't beat a bit of classic hip hop every so often.
5. M. Ward - Fuel For Fire
The only reason I have this album is because I got given it for free when I went to Radio 1 several years ago. I quite enjoyed this song, so think I need to listen to this album again as I've only listened to it once.

Re: i-Pod shuffle
I always assume people cheat in situations like this to sound more worldly. Warts and all, here it is.
-- Eva and Chuck (The Other Side) - The Shadow of our Smile
-- Aretha (Aretha Sings the Blues) - Muddy Water
-- U2 (Boy Deluxe Edition) - Untitled
-- Louis Prima (Collector's Edition) - I've Got You Under My Skin
-- Muddy Waters (Muddy "Mississippi" Waters) - She's 19 Years Old

Re: i-Pod shuffle
I think I'll join in.
1. Emily Barker and the Red Clay Halo - The Leaving
2. The Black Keys - Howlin' For You
3. Sam Isaac - Pheonix
4. Marcus "Seige" White Feat. Big Hollis - Lincoln Lawyer (from the film)
5. Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond
I'm pretty surprised that no Frank Turner came up, for he takes up about half of my iPod.
