Joe Pug

Post by Watergirl » Thu Sep 05, 2013 9:38 am

Thought I'd use this spot to mention a singer/songwriter I have been a fan of for some time and I think FT fans might like him: Joe Pug, originally from Chicago but now living in Austin. Two of his earlier EPs can be downloaded for free from his website, www.joepugmusic.com .

Still plugging away.
A very nice interview with Joe that I came across today. It's from a few years ago.

One of my favourite singer/songwriters interviewing another: Otis Gibbs' podcast with Joe Pug.

There are lots of great episodes of Otis Gibbs' podcast "Thanks for giving a damn" on his website (www.otisgibbs.com), including chats with Billy Bragg, Mary Gauthier, Hayes Carll etc.

Back listening to Joe Pug. This is a beautiful song, even though it does sound a little like "The Galway girl".

For anyone who is travelling to Glasgow early…… The night before the night before… (that's the night before the Beans On Toast headline gig) this great singer/songwriter will be at a venue called Broadcast.
Joe Pug, Broadcast, Glasgow, 11 November, 19:00. Only GBP9. Not to be missed.

See you at Beans then Blastman! I'm going a couple of days early, taking in the Waterboys as well. Should be a fantastic week.

Yep, off to the Waterboys on Thursday here myself. Still have to book a hotel for Glasgow, any recommendations (last time I was there I stayed at the airport, not bad but would rather stay in the city this time)?

Heading into town now to see the Waterboys as it happens!
I have booked hostels in Glasgow. Due to availability I have to switch between Euro Hostel and the SYHA one.

Wanting to spread the word on Joe Pug's excellent podcast series, "The working songwriter".
This episode has him chatting with Hayes Carll. Many references to TVZ, Guy Clark, Joe Ely etc.
