'Hits and Mrs'

Post by tarpster77 » Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:54 am

Right the 'Losing Days' EP has come out today, and with it we have an original song in 'Hits and Mrs'.

Just seeing what people think of it.

To me it seems to be a bit strange as it sounds like a new sound that Frank hasn't gone to before. Definitely needs more listens.

Also what do people think of the recorded 'Longing For A Day' and Biffy Clyro cover?

I'm not sure yet... Maybe it needs more listens, though.

But HOLY SHIT THAT COVER OF WHO'S GOT A MATCH. I had no idea what to expect from it, but it's brilliant.

I think we solved the mystery of who has the match, amazing Biffy cover! Really like the new recording of Longing For The Day. A much softer tone, and I love hearing the mandolin. Hits & Mrs. was also excellent! Had an extra folksy feel to it.

I finally made the EP downloading thing work. Global society my ass! Got it from the fairshare site (Blonde you're a star!)

I liked Hits and Mrs, it's catchy and I've been humming the chorus all day. I think Frank's looking for the impossible, though, LOL. If you're out smashed and I didn't know you'd be out that late and then crawl in bed late you ain't getting breakfast in bed at my house. Haha

I agree with the comments on the Biffy cover though. Holy shit that's good. I may have had it on repeat more times than I care to admit.

When I first heard ''Who's got a match" all I could think was how similar the verses sound to Abba's "Lay all your love on me". Made me re-listen to Abba this morning. They're the best!
I didn't realize it was a Biffy Clyro cover. Must have a listen to the original.
I like the E.P. Nice to have some new acoustic stuff.

Thanks for the link. Cool song. Still think the verses sound like Abba.

The whole EP is amazing, Hits and Mrs is such a great record.

Hits and Mrs (especially the beginning) sounds very much like a Counting Crows song, but i'm struggling to put my finger on it at the moment! Any ideas anyone?

Yep, totally agree about the ABBA comment (not a bad thing in my book).

Hits and Mrs is currently my favourite song in the world. It's lightheartedness compared to TDH fills me with total joy, which is hard to do at the moment, just thinking about it as I write his puts a big smile on my face. It also makes me appreciate how good my Mrs is at keeping me sane. :P
