If ever I stray strumming pattern

Hi guys, new to forum. Couldn't see an answer to this question. My young boys love If ever I Stray. I know the chord progression but does anybody now the correct strumming pattern used by Frank. I'm a novice/intermediate guitar player and am playing a simple DDUUDU with an accent on some of the down strokes. Sounds ok but not like the original. Any help appreciated? Many Thanks, Dave
