Packing for tour video

Just watched this and REALLY enjoyed it. I have a complete OCD over my rucksack and equipment for gigs and pockets etc so this was a welcome watch.

And the best thing is - the trash pocket. This is something I also do and wish everyone did - there is no need to litter : ever!

Anyway - just felt I would share this ... back to business now.

had a very bizarre and funny conversation with Blonde on the back of this video, ended up at pancakes, not sure how we made that leap though.

I'm the opposite, especially if I'm only away for only 1 or 2 nights. I remember I need to pack about 15mins before I leave the house and end up running out the door, throwing things in my bag as I go.

I'm even worse at unpacking *looks at half unpacked bag on the floor from last week*

I have developed a habit of unpacking as soon as I walk through the door, even when I was dying of the black death after New Year in Notts, first thing I did was unpack, then I died in bed for a week.

Packing 15mins before leaving though is standard, does help that washbag/cosmetics/essentials are always left ready to be grabbed so I don't forget anything super important.
Plus packing is sooooo boring

I laughed because I think Frank and my husband share a brain and a touch of OCD. My husband travels all over Asia/Japan for work and he's got a very similar system, including being able to stand up and tell what its got in it's pockets, precious.

And he leaves his washbag everywhere, too. He's got a smaller version washbag with small things of everything in his small bag because of this. It's clear and see through so he can get it past security.

My suitcase is...haphazard. At best. It fits in it if I sits on it. Makes my darling mental and I am surprised we are not divorced, and is usually why we spend no small part of mutual travel doing that bickering thing that people who have been together forever do.

I must admit that I know I have everything in their right pockets (phone in left, headphones in right, bus ticket in right coat pocket or jeans if no coat). Same with any bag that has more than one compartment. Everything has it's place, I don't like it when they're not where I expect them to be. I nearly had a panic attack once in the bus station, because my bus ticket wasn't in the pocket it should have been...
I'm no good at thinking of something funny enough for these things.

The idea really should catch on! I've been doing this for about a year now. Trash pocket takes on a mind of it's own! Now it isn't just reserved for my trash...I find myself picking up other garbage I see lying around.

This is more my style. I'm actually really OCD about certain things, but packing is not one of them. This is one reason I don't like to fly. My organizational skills are so bad I can't pack for it. With the car I just toss it all in, whatever I think I possibly might need ... I like to overprepare. Whatever vague order I started with devolves to chaos by the end of the trip. I do keep a trash bag and a recycling bag in the car though ... hate it when trash is thrown about.

This made me laugh.

Ah, I noticed the pendant at Hatfield, and was wondering. My hubby used to wear one, he travelled a lot with his job. Superstition is a funny thing. I have small rituals...not satanic...when I fly.

I too have a very strict "Pocket system", as does my younger brother, and it's something we've discussed in detail and at length in the past. We've never really had a name for it before, so shall be using "pocket system" from now on. It could very well be a Larry David-ism too, which makes it an even better title.

One further point on the trash pocket - which I often forget is - empty it before putting clothes in the washing machine!

Whilst I was absolutely blown away by the revelation of the trash pocket, I did worry about this...

See, we ladies have "trash purse", but I hate saying it, as it sounds ridden with innuendo.
