He seems a nice enough chap but I don't really get what you chat about beyond cool gig, nice music? Kinda feel guilty that there's some sort of obligation to interact. We've all sort of shared experiences but we're still strangers, unless it's a mutual thing to move beyond that what's the point? It's almost like a very brief speed escort.

even down to the tallness, so many times I have been part of a conversation with friends feeling like a antelope amongst giraffe's with no hope of hearing anything more than snippets of conversation.
What is worse is I know a few others (tall people) who do know Frank enough to speak more than "cool gig dude" and then I get to bring out the look of creepy weird dumb deaf stalker.
Such an attractive look, but I think I pull it off well!
I think Nigel is the person I have said the most words to and he doesn't come out to play with the fans anymore.
To completely fly in the face of everything I have just said though, I do actually get along with is the bass player from Chiefs, and he is also crazy tall so basically I think it can only leave one conclusion....
Frank is shortist

Re: Meeting Frank
I've only met Frank once. Seemed like a decent chap, until he insulted my favourite band and snapped my CD in half :'(
That's one copy of A Song To Ruin I won't ever be getting back
Just tearing up thinking about it. There certainly was no harmony and he really did ruin my memory of meeting him. Wessex-Boy, more like Wessex...cunt.
*Note* Was originally going to follow up the last message with "he raped me", but I thought it might extract the subtlety, and we all hate to be "that fucking guy" who ruins the fun. (i.e. Wank Turner)

You should have ended your post here. I don't think your "Note" added anything.IGaveMyEyesToStevieWonder wrote:I've only met Frank once. Seemed like a decent chap, until he insulted my favourite band and snapped my CD in half :'(

Frank blackmailed IGaveMyEyes into ruining his post as the beardy tosser is aware of possible uprisings and aimed to make the cause appear to be in poor taste. skhmmxi fell for it. Frank is preying on your naivety, friend.

I met Frank in Portland last year. He was absolutely fantastic! I had driven about 600 miles to see the show. It's a tougher life than I can imagine - but he made me feel like I was his biggest fan. I'll see the show tomorrow night in Oakland - only 100 miles this time. I won't be disappointed.

This graphic was published last week regarding bands fans travel distances for. I cracked up when I saw the distances. They are babies.dreadpir wrote:I met Frank in Portland last year. Re: Meeting Frank
Yeah. I drive 40 miles (one way) to get to work every day. They probably identified people with mileage like me as "outliers," and excluded us from the data. But miles driven isn't a real indicator of how big a fan someone is. Lots of reasons why people don't travel, and lots of reasons why they do.darlenet. wrote: This graphic was published last week regarding bands fans travel distances for. Well, I'm flying from California to Albany to see him with my daughter in Clifton Park in November. I can't wait! He was fantastic in Oakland last night, and I got my hug during the encores.

Frank's' great but our heads usually end up in two completely different weather systems, so we don't have much of anything to talk about.
Re: Meeting Frank
Going to Saturday's concert in Detroit. Visiting relatives and I'm taking 2 sisters, my daughter and a nephew. This will be my 6th time seeing you Frank and hopefully my first time meeting you. How does that work at one of these outdoor venues? Do you visit the merch tent (if there is one) after your set or after the entire concert is over? Or do you just say, sorry, can't do that here (which would be understandable)?
Re: Meeting Frank
I've never felt the need to stay back for a chat. When leaving Aberdeen a couple of years back I shook his hand on the way past. I thought that was sufficient and pretty sure most artists would get fed up running over the same idle chit chat all the time.
This is my favourite thread about someone meeting a famous person.
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=933047
If you've got the time to read, you'll laugh. If you don't, read on............
Basically a Jason Plato fan noticed his car parked outside a shop. He waited around to meet his hero. The meeting between the two of them didn't go well at all. The guy then took to the forum to say Jason isn't what he hoped he'd be.
Roll forward after the usual Pistonheads fall outs and questioning, someone joined claiming to be Jason Plato, then gave a totally different version of events.
Basically the OP was an absolute weirdo and made the meeting really awkward. Sadly taking to the internet to slag Jason off backfired badly and the truth came out. Hugely embarrassing.
I'll stick with a handshake.
