Two questions..

Post by Baudelaire » Wed Nov 07, 2012 5:07 pm

1) Any plans on ever doing like a b-side style show, just playing songs off of the first and second three years and even sleep is for the weak. The reason I ask is that there are so many great songs that never get played live, but there are some that get played at pretty much every show, and although I like them there are some I'd very much like to see instead. Every so often we get the odd once (Nashville Tennessee at Wembley for example) but I'd replace Photosynthesis, If Ever I Stray, The Road etc. with Hold Your Tongue, Balthazar, Once We Were Anarchists etc. any day of the week.

2) On a similar note, I'll only request the one, but I'm really surprised at how underrated the song Live Fast Die Old is, I actually requested it for the Wembley show and you said you would consider, but to no avail. So maybe at Leeds this time around? :D

Cheeeeers Frank!

I love the idea of a b-side style show, or even tour! I reckon there would be huge demand for tickets though

I asked Frank about this once - and doing a covers only show - and sorry if my reply is worded wrong but it was something along the lines of ....

it's not really something i need to do just yet .... but not to say i wont in the future

as i say ..... that view may have changed now ...

I've the same worry, if I had 3/4 months to plan ahead and tix were cheap enough I'd fly for it, but it'd likely be a show announced 3 or less weeks before as a spur of the moment thing, so I'd freak.

Then if it was a huge show you'd have a bunch of fans there who don't know the B-sides and that would be funny to hear them asking when Prufrock, Photosynthesis or whatever is being played :D (Not trying to sound elitist here, though I likely do, but it's just a fact of music when someone gets to Franks fan base size. )
I'd rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know.

It's kind of a cool idea. Maybe do a charity gig (or gigs). There are one or two that I don't really want to play so it wouldn't be a complete free for all. But yeah could be fun.
Shows? All of em.

I'd rather see something along the lines of a complete reworking of the singles. Like additional instrumentation, tempo changes etc etc - not unlike what has been done live with Fathers Day, and Long Live The Queen in the past.

I love it when artists reinvent their songs! Although they do have to revert back to originals for other tours as well.

Probably because he can't remember the words/chords!!

Or maybe it's just the case that some of the themes in the songs feel less relevant to where Frank is these days??
