Elliott Smith

Hey Frank,
The two songwriters I believe that have had the most profound impact upon me have had to have been yourself and Elliott Smith. Kind of the 2 opposite ends of the spectrum with you being ever the optimist (for the most part I guess) and he being the 'tortured soul' and more of an introvert. So my question is: are you a fan? Or have you ever been influenced by him?
cheers

Can't say I'm a massive fan. The way he double tracked all his vocals really bothers me. Hm.
Shows? All of em.

Alas, but I can understand that. He was a great songwriter though.

Elliott Smith is my all time favourite artist. His vocal layers I find amazing, and his studio work is just beautiful to listen to (particularly on headphones). Harmony wise he's so complex in places, I could spend hours studying his music. Yeah, just amazing. But I wouldn't exactly put on half of his records to have a good time.
Lets not settle for satisfaction, we are women and men of action.
