Ballad

Hi Frank,

Just wondering if there was any specific reasoning behind not playing Ballad any more? Or did you just feel it was time for a change?

It's a song about not going anywhere/not making it. And he just headlined Wembley. That's what I thought anyway.

something like that. I don't think i'll literally never play it again, maybe just leave it for a while.

Pleased you said that. I absolutely love bellowing my lungs out to that song.

Not sure all songs that no longer represent part of an artist's life can be retired. Taking Frank as the example I can think of a fair few songs that he couldn't play any more if this were the case and it'd be a bit dull if the only songs he could play that were related to him personally were those of how he was successful, (apparently) attractive, happy and (relatively) wealthy. I mean, I know how he feels, but we all have off days where we like a bit of a wallow ;)

He must be bored of it to be fair. If you played it 1000+ times, you might have had enough of it too. Like when Real damage went to the reserve bench - great song, but I was glad to see the back of it and when it does get played now I enjoy it again, rather than heading to the loo.

Good point, was a little gutted at the thought of not hearing it again but also good to give it a rest and what a song to have in your locker!

My going to the loo song is Long Live The Queen - great crowd pleaser but hear it some many times - I'd rather miss that than a rarer played / new song

For what it's worth I think it's not a bad idea to retire this - for some time in any case.
I wouldn't want to miss anything so stay put for the whole gig, but if I had a break song it would be 'Substitute'.
