"I face the horizon, everywhere I go"

Post by smige2 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 6:14 pm

I've noticed you don't tend to sing the last few lines of The Road live any more, ending the song instead on "My time is running out." I just wondered what the reason is for this? The last time I remember you including the last bit was at the first Roundhouse show last year and you let the crowd sing it, which was awesome.

nothing to do with disliking the lyrics or anything. just segues easier into other songs if you cut that bit out..
Shows? All of em.

I believe it was included in the lock up set at Reading this year, which was ace.

i noticed the lack of 'i face the horizon' on sunday and think it worked well.
guess it all depends on where it sits in the set.

having this right at the end of a set - pre encore would keep everyone singing it before the band return.

I was pretty sure at Manchester everyone had started clapping as soon as the last "my time is running out" had finished which would have made it difficult to fit it in anyway. There seem to be a lot of people who just clap in the pauses in songs these days, makes you wonder how well they know the music to begin with  haha

i mean the crowed sang along after the song ends. not the whole bunch of people but a fair amount of roughly 20 people. but the song was played after "if ever i stray" this time and there was a pause anyway before the next song could start.

Bumping this up to say thank you for playing the end of The Road at all the shows on the current U.S. tour. Lots of happy buzz amongst my gig buddies about this. It's an important part of the song.

Happy to learn that I might get to hear these words live again! I don't think I have since getting them tattooed on my back. I must've cursed it, ha.

That said, it's Frank's decision, and I've yet to be disappointed seeing him and the Sleeping Souls live.
Brevity is not my forte.

It's a delight! After a raucous version of The Road, then the crowd sings it. It's wistful. It's perfect. So glad it's back!
shows? 90 so far...
