Your Avatar & Comedy? (Fawlty Towers)

Post by Bossman66 » Tue Sep 13, 2011 10:14 am

My first 'new topic' - At least I hope it's new & I've not missed it elsewhere on the forum. Apologies if it has been discussed. I've looked around a bit but it's tricky when you're new.

Not just for Frank either, although I'm interested in why Fawlty Towers & what comedy he likes, but to everyone here, what is your Avatar & any significance in it & what comedy do you like?

My Avatar is me in October 2009 on my only trip to Asbury Park & Freehold, New Jersey when I went to see Springsteen's last 2 shows at Giant's Stadium, New York, before they knocked it down. A recreation of the cover art on Bruce's 'My Hometown' single, a pose recreated by tons of Bruce fans over the years (provided you get the correct tree)

I'm gonna update it (on here), if & when I get a picture with Frank at one of his shows....lol

Comedy? I loved 'Fawlty Towers', 'Blackadder', 'The Office', 'Gavin & Stacey' & currently think 'Outnumbered' is superb. My favourite comedy/drama ever - Auf Wiedersehen Pet - JUST CLASS!!

Thanks for the explanation.

Just looked it up on Wiki. Sounds pretty good. Not seen it.

Will look out for it.

when i was a youngster our english teacher made us watch all the episodes of FT (hey ... faulty towers - frank turner = Faulty Towers Hardcore)

anyway ....

We got to write and film our own episode - we later found out it had nothing to do with our English GCSE and I am sure the teacher kept the recordings for his own enjoyment.

but ....

It was fun and speaking of English Comedy - the Fast Show is making a return in Nov = :)

Does that include the episode where the sign says FLOWERY TWATS in the intro?

no and I don't use The Germans either as it might get me in a bit of trouble. I do use Tony Robinson's Maid Marian and Her Merry Men for yr7 though if anyone remembers that.

I used Fawlty Towers once in a lesson about stress, when I was a student teacher. I think it was the classic hitting car with branch scene, but it may also have been a clip from the Germans.

The question was open to members too?

I like 'Helium's' Avatar & get the link to Frank's tune.

Anyone want to explain theirs?
