Bluegrass

Post by darlenet. » Tue Jul 16, 2019 7:48 pm

Hi Frank!

I’ve been so excited about this new album, and Dora Hand was not a disappointment. I’ve listened to bluegrass for ages, and that song is as good as any. My question is, how did you prepare for that song, because though you play folk and country, this was, to me, decidedly bluegrass?

Thanks for putting it out there.

Glad you like the song. I guess I'd been thinking about bluegrass licks in D shapes (it's in E major, but capo 2 so D shapes), runs and turnarounds and so on. The solo is an amalgamation of a bunch of different licks I've been playing with over the last few years. Definitely the hardest bit of guitar I've played on a record to date!
Shows? All of em.

No offense, but I wasn't sure it was you playing that. It was really great, but nothing exactly like I'd heard from you before.
