Hey Frank,

About your recording of Barbara Allen; after looking around online, I've found the American version the Everly Brothers sung, I've found another Celtic version, but I haven't seen/heard the version you did outside your recording. My question is, did you set a melody you wrote to the story/poem in your version, or did you find the sheet music somewhere (in which case I'd love to know where).

Either way, thanks for doing your part to keep the old traditions alive! I'm taking a music history class and just now beginning to understand how little popular music has survived throughout the years and the value of learning folk music as a means to understand the past and carry on its legacies.

I based mine on a version from one of the English Folk Dance & Song Society collections of field recordings. Edited it down a bit.
Shows? All of em.
