I would love to go as it is
A) a friday night
B) Dublin
C) Ireland
D) flights are cheap right now
E) would be my 30th gig

But then again it's exam time for me and I am not sure if I could skip that day. Not sure of paying 87€ is worth the risk in this case :( Dublin is on my places to visit list on first place :(

Realised I could go. Checked flights again. Flights are 20€ more than two days ago. Booked a flight.
Means gig no 30th in 9 different countries. Nice one!

Very exciting news!! On 16 November Frank will play at my very favourite venue in the whole wide world - the Dublin Olympia. Beautiful old theatre with lots of history. This really makes my day.

I really like The Olympia, and therefore might go to this.

Really? Why is that Paul? Both are fine for sound and views, but I think the Olympia is just so much prettier.
I love Maureen's Bar, with all the framed photos of herself and all the people who have played over the years. Even the corridors are a veritable museum.

I just think the Academy is a great intimate venue (I know the building isn't as nice or as steeped in history as the Olympia) and you always feel close to the stage there regardless of where you are. Having said that, I've been to some good gigs in the Olympia too, and it looks like there's going to be two more there this November (Frank and Brian Fallon)

Hello all! I will be in Dublin for the November 16th show at the Olympia. Was wondering if anyone would like to meet up before the show for a drink? It'll be my first time in the city so i'm curious to explore as well, if anyone is up for playing tour guide. I've also got an extra ticket if someone is interested.

I‘ll also be there and I’ll have time for a pint beforehand.
Please inform me if you know whether Frank will be playing a small gig during the day. I missed the last time at Tower Records and was so sad, especially because I was in the area. Also I’d love to finally meet him. I saw him and the sleeping souls plenty of times, but never got to meet him. Hopefully he’ll be around before or after the concert.
Looking forward!!

No news on any of that yet.

It's a good bit away, but I guess when it comes to the time we should pick a pub in the area and we can all go there for a pre-gig pint. My suggestion would be the Long Hall. Beautiful pub, close by.

Don't miss the bars inside the Olympia though. There are several. One of them features photos of legendary barmaid Maureen (now 91), who still works there, with many of the people who have performed in the Olympia over the years.
