12/02/14 Tubes

Post by sarahg » Tue Jan 14, 2014 5:49 pm

Hi guys, not sure if this will cause a problem for travellers to the O2 gig, but local news reported that the tube workers have voted to strike on the 12 February. Just might need to check Tfl travel planner thingy before you leave. xxx

Thanks for the heads up on this. If I hadn't have read this I wouldn't have known!

I would always, always, always use the Thames Clipper (if you possibly can) after going to the O2. Not only is there very rarely a queue (unlike the mad squashed crowds for the tubes), for me it is always a beautiful way to end a night.

Timetables are easily enough found via Google.

I am going to have to drive up to the O2 - When I saw the great Lionel Ritchie - I had to leave before the end to get the train home.

Whilst I imagine Frank won't be playing 'dancing on the ceiling' - I'd still like to stay to the end.

Is parking a nightmare to get out of after a gig? I'll check to see if my hotel has parking, I won't need it.

Sorry, it's a pain isn't it! They may call it off, but travellers from afar will need to know they can get home!
My chauffeur oops husband is driving!!! I bet the car park will be a bugger.

That would be awesome - I've not investigated it yet to be honest - seems like a life time away still

There are 5 of us and the valet parking which avoids the queues suddenly seems very appealing!

This. The O2 is such a bitch to get out of and back to Marylebone in time for the last train home I'm driving in. It won't cost any more, and it means I won't have to leave before the end of the gig. I may have 2 seats available if anyone else is coming in from Oxford way (J8 onwards M40 south bound). I'll post on here when I know.
So if ever a man should ask you for your business or your name, tell him to go and fuck himself and tell his friends to do the same.
Gigs: Wembley, Oxford, London forum.

Thanks for posting this :) I'm coming in from Winchester with a friend (unfortunately already bought my train tickets ¬¬) so here's hoping it won't be too bad. I enjoy navigating the underground, but replacement buses would probably confuse me to no end :P

Apologies for being the bringer of bad tidings but have just found out that the DLR have announced they are also going on strike.
I don't know if there are any other overland national rail options.

I've booked parking now. God knows how long it will take to get there. Coming from the west, the advice seems to be to head around the M25 to the East and then up the A2.

Thanks again for the heads up on this. I am just trying to sort out travelling now. I'm not very confident about travelling around London at the best of times so if anyone hears of any suggestions how to get back to Liverpool Street then I would be most grateful!
