No :( unfortunately not, I hope you manage to make it! Just be aware Ryanair may fly in to some random airport near Derry so check that out first. Can't recommend them as a good travelling experience, I don't think you are allowed to take hold luggage and a carry on bag has to be a certain size...but I am not sure. I haven't flown with them for ages. Good luck!
You can take hold luggage. You just have to book in advance and pay an arm and a leg for it.

I'm in the same boat as you! Keep me posted. I have a checked bag with Ryanair, but it may be overweight... This shall be quite an adventure :)

Hi All...............

Been on this board for a while but never got round to registering.......anyway about this Gig in Derry - being from there, heres a few pointers:
Local airport - City of Derry - about 20mins from city centre and very few flights - more of a regional airport.
Belfast is about 80 miles away and served by 2 airports - Belfast City and Belfast International - both busy airports with flights to most UK desinations.
Bus from Belfast to Derry is Service 212 and takes about 1hr 40mins - train is also available but takes forever!
There are a number of hotels in Derry, and plenty of pubs
The Venue is just across the peace bridge from the city centre - city centre pub to venue about 10mins walk.
Derry/ Londonderry is UK city of culture this year so loads on - its the hometown of the Undertones, That Petrol Emotion, Fighting With Wire - so we love our music!
Any questions just post on here and I'll try and help - when I started going to gigs in England members on other forums did this for me, so its now pay back!
See you at the gig!!!!!!

Moving has been madness, sorry for not responding sooner, but yes, I made it to the second one and it was amazing (dragged one of my best friends and she's a total convert now, as well)! Were you at both? Jealous!

Hia Groover,

the service 212.... Belfast to Derry...

thats from Belfast city centre isn't it?

and the Belfast international airpot is a way out of belfast I think???? towards Derry even??

I think there is a shuttle bus thing that goes from Belfast International Airport to Derry, but you have to book a return in advance (cheaper than 2 singles and at least gurenteeed a place on the bus) although singles should be available from the bus driver.....

Can't find the link though...

(and not thinking clearly - I have a cold, it won't leave, it had better have left by this!)

anyone have the link?

and if anyone knows where at the airport to catch the thing, and where exactly it drops in Derry (I do remember that there was no map when I had the link last time... why can't people put maps on thier websites of drop off and pick up points!!!)

Hey Bella

the bus service from the International Airport to Derry is the airporter:
http://www.airporter.co.uk (028 7126 9996)

I have never used it though. There is a shuttle bus (maybe every hour) into Belfast City Centre Europa Bus Centre from the airport, and from there you can catch the 212 to Derry. Also if flying into Belfast City airport I would suggest the 212 service too, although the airporter leaves from there too..... :? Both airports have a stop outside the doors for the airporter, although I don't know where in Derry it drops you.The 212 goes to the Bus Station in derry - right in the centre.

Belfast Int airport is north of belfast on the way to derry, beside a town called Antrim.

Hope that helps and the cold clears up soon :D

Once you're in Derry nothing is far from anything. It's not a huge town.

Someday I won't have a brain
They'll take away the part that hurts and let the rest remain

Fix me please, I don't wanna be dead .."

If anyone has spare time while visiting Derry, there is a nice music themed portrait exhibition on in the London Street Gallery (http://www.cityofculture2013.com/event/ ... -and-hues/).
I also really liked the "Without" installation at the Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company, on the City Wall near Magazine Gate (http://www.echoechodance.com). Both open from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and free entry.
