Excellent bands, tidy venue and a pleasant crowd - apart from the threats of violence towards a Reading based performer; what else could you ask for!

saw Franz Ferdinand last night, have moved away from the indie scene recently and was reminded why by the support act. Sounded like any other band from 2005/6, they were decent enough and I enjoyed their Yummy Fur cover but their music washed over me in a beige kinda way. Watching two kids jump around in a haphazard state of glee was far more entertaining, listening to two girls bitch about their abandon was not so much. Franz however were completely brilliant, big shiny happy examples of what the scene once was, fun. They clearly loved being back on stage, Nick threw himself into the crowd at one point in obvious delight at how well the new songs were being received. Lots of sing a longs, lots of jumping around and a whole lot of dancing. A marked improvement from the first band where I only liked one song, Franz was the opposite with only one song which left my mind wandering.
Set list included Michael, This Fire, Ulysses, Take Me Out, Jacqueline, Tell The Tonight, Dark of the Matinee, Do You Want To, Walk Away, No You Girls and a whole lot of new ones of which I don't know yet.

The rest of the year for me includes Passenger, The Darkness, The Answer, The Waterboys and Dave Hause, all in Sussex :-)

Plus of course Frank in Portsmouth in 2014 :-)
