I went to see the Wonder Stuff last night.
It was utterly fantastic.
End.

What are they playing these days? They were one of my all time favourites, but have utterly pissed on their legacy in my opinion. Miles is a full time chump these days. The sacking of the Martins was a terrible thing, and the fact that when the re-released Welcome To The Cheap Seats with a picture of the current band on the cover....fuck off. Just, fuck off.

Nothing this new line-up has released is anything less than totally mediocre in my opinion. But I do miss them. I went to all five reunion shows at The Forum, and every single London show up to the point that the line-up changed (and a couple of times since, but only as I had tickets prior to the changes being announced). But I can't get past the back stabbing devious nature of how the current band came to be.

Blissfully ignorant of the politics behind the current band. But Miles seemed on top form last night.
Not in order, but the setlist was pretty much:

Mission Drive
Size of a cow
Here comes everyone
Caught in my shadow
On the ropes
Circle square
Ten trenches deep
It’s yer money I’m after
Give give give me more more more
Merry go round
The animals and me
Mother and I
Ruby horse
Unbearable
Poison
Radio ass kiss
Golden Green
Piece of sky
Can’t shape up
Don’t let me down, gently
Unfaithful
Them big oak trees
Good night though

So, no new ones!

Probably for the best. The wife knew Gilks, so I perhaps know a bit more about the situation than most. Nasty though.

No new stuff? Says it all really. Looks a great set. I keep thinking I might go and see them again, but I never do.

I'm going to this on Wednesday - last Jim Bob gig I went to at the Borderline was great...

I went to the Borderline. That was superb. But I am feeling the financial pinch this month anyway, and then blew a crap load of money on an impromptu going to see KISS moment. AND I am supposed to meeting a friend for a drink on Thursday...will have to make up my mind closer to the time and hope for the best.

Same for me...a lot happening right now which is costing me an arm and a leg but got my ticket a while back. I thought the setlist was amazing at the Borderline...I heard he might be digging out some old songs again this time too.

I also went to Brixton Windmill yesterday for an acoustic night...Austin Lucas was brillliant, as was Darren Johns...El Morgan also very good...

Same. I've gone off them lots in the last few years with the last few albums, but when I saw they were doing this I had to go. Was definitely one of my favourite albums "back in the day" so seeing them play the whole thing will be pretty ace. Hopefully they'll throw in some of the tracks from the old eps too.

i saw them playing some sort of special/"intimate" gig at king tuts 2 years ago, which was pretty cool. they played mostly stuff from the 1st two albums with a couple of older songs thrown in too. i saw them a few months after that touring their 4th album. for the most part it was incredibly boring. it's great that they're trying not to churn out the same material album after album, but the overall standard of songwriting has gone massively downhill from album 3 onwards IMO.
