The only gigs I've got coming up are Alcopopalooza, Trees and Y-Not in the next few months...

I need to find me some live music to go to...

Yep - me on Sunday 12th. Can't believe getting chance to see em again - years since last seen em at Nice and Sleazy in Glasgow (about 40 people there incidently).

CAN I SCREAM!

I saw Otis Gibbs upstairs at Whelans last night. Quite a contrast from my previous gig, which was Bruce in a football stadium. I reckon there were 40 people at most at the Whelans gig, but the atmosphere was great.
Otis Gibbs is a singer/songwriter from Indiana. He writes beautiful songs. Looks a bit like a younger member of ZZ Top. The in between songs talk was very good too. I thought I had never seen him before but realized afterwards that I once saw him supporting Billy Bragg.
I bought a CD last night and when I got home I saw that he wrote "Thanks for giving a damn!"
Nice!

Back from Cornwall where I danced in the rain & decided that wearing a sailing jacket & wellies was a good plan. I know I am a wuss when it comes to getting wet & cold. I am hoping the sun will shine on Sat 14th July at HRC for the Boss. Going with my Bruce loving friend & her daughters and they insisted we see Paul Simon the next day. This time we can get a bus back home from Hyde Park or walk. Almost playing on my doorstep too good to be true.

Got rained on at every single one of these gigs. :(

Emily Barker was fantastic, I really like the new songs.

Elbow were phenomenal. An encore consisting of The Birds and One Day Like This complete with fireworks, almost made us forget about the rain. The 1 1/2 wait to get out of the car park afterwards cos of cars stuck in the mud was not so great.

Just back from the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. It has to be THE best organized festival I ever attended. Had a great time and already want to go again next year. Please play at this amazing festival, Frank!

http://multimedia.pol.dk/archive/00658/ ... 58031y.jpg

Highlights: Of course Bruce who played a three hour perfect festival set. I had a great and unobstructed view from the second pit barrier.
Was nicely surprised by The Cure who also played a three hour set full of hits. Jack White was excellent, but a short gig in comparison.
I like Bjork but her headline set was a disaster.
Other highlights for me: Hank III, First Aid Kit, Dry The River, Tamikrest, Punch Brothers.

I was at the Cambridge Folk Festival. Missed all the excitement of Frank being at the Olympic Ceremony. Who would have thought....??!! Amazing. Just saw a bit on iPlayer. Sounded perfect.
Anyhow, Cambridge highlights: The Unwanted, Tim Edey & Brandan Power, Nanci Griffith, Habadekuk, Fay Hield & the Hurricane Party, Karine Polwart, Roy Harper, Raghu Dixit, Spiro, JuJu, the Unthanks with the Brighouse & Rastrick Brass Brand, Loreena McKennitt.
Skipped Billy Bragg's Woody Guthrie tribute because I am hoping to catch him at Beautiful Days.

Jealous...watched most of the Cambridge coverage on sky arts, some really good stuff. I'm going to beautiful days as well! Other than that, there are so many gigs I want to go to in the next few months!! Revival tour, karine polwart, slash, Motörhead, Lancashire hotpots, Peter hook, Kate rusby, Franz Nicolay, Carolina chocolate drops...gonna have to prioritise for the sake of funds! Do have tickets for patti smith and Megson already.

Forgot to mention Megson... Really liked them as well.
Am really looking forward to Beautiful Days. I saw the schedule yesterday and thankfully there aren't too many clashes.
Similar problem here - lots of gigs, not enough funds. Am a Patti Smith fan too, but she's only doing a festival in Ireland as far as I know..
