Beautiful Days

Post by Watergirl » Mon Mar 06, 2017 11:50 am

That is some line up! It took me exactly 24 hours to convince myself that it was okay to add another festival to the summer plans.
No less than four acts I like so much that I have everything they ever put out (Frank, Waterboys, Kíla and Lankum/Lynched), two more I am a big fan of (Damien Dempsey, Eliza Carthy) and lots I'd love to see: Therapy?, the Lightning Seeds, Stiff Little Fingers, the Levellers, Heaton & Abbott, Sean McGowan, Lau…
Happy (beautiful) days!

Even more excited for this now the full running order has been released. The Saturday line-up in particular is phenomenal. While, based on some ill-advised YouTube surfing, I'm now slightly concerned that the Sisters of Mercy might no longer be the band that teenaged me was obsessed with all those years ago, New Model Army never fail to impress. Justin Sullivan is one of my all-time favourite lyricists and, in my humble opinion, vastly underrated as a songwriter (as an aside, has anyone seen their Between Dog and Wolf documentary? Really fascinating, and hearing Justin talk about songwriting and his views on music and authenticity is very reminiscent of a certain other skinny half-arsed English country singer . . .)

I'm told the Saturday headliner isn't too shabby either.

Very keen to see it, but haven't had the disposable income to buy it yet. Used to go and see them all the time, follow them around on tour a bit and the like, but haven't seen them for a good few years now. Toying with the Christmas shows though
