Re: Lost Evenings
Or even a solo or full band show!!
Re: Lost Evenings
I haven't logged in on here for years but had to drop in this evening to say how amazing Frank and co were for the SIFTW show. Incredible gig and it was great to hear all those songs live again, albeit a rather different setting to when I saw the original Sleep tour at Plug N Play in Reading 10 years ago!
Re: Lost Evenings
Last night's set list looked incredible - had I have been there, I'd have crossed off six of the 17 songs left on my Never Heard Live list. Bloody wedding.
But I'm racing up to London as we speak and hope to make up for lost time over the next two days. Crossing everything crossable for Cowboy Chords or Longing For The Day at Sensible Sunday tonight - I need to fill my musical equivalent of a Panini sticker album!

Nothing crossed off my list last night but the set was fantastic and the slower acoustic version of Live Fast Die Old was just beautiful - I love the original but this was brilliant. Great night all round - I can't wait to do it all again tonight.
(The only downer to the evening: am I getting old or is it now a thing to piss in a cup and then throw said cup on the venue floor - aka all down people's legs - rather than walking 20 metres to the actual toilets?! The drunk bloke behind me - and his girlfriend - both did this. Grim.)

That is rancid ... And says a lot about people ... I like the philosphy of if you would'nt do it in your own home dont do it else where ...Sivvy wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 1:06 pm(The only downer to the evening: am I getting old or is it now a thing to piss in a cup and then throw said cup on the venue floor - aka all down people's legs - rather than walking 20 metres to the actual toilets?! Re: Lost Evenings
yep that's grim and not necessary, I can't understand people, I have seen it at festivals but never at an indoors event although I have known it where it is launched rather than poured on the floor (i've stopped going to those gigs now, that's grim on another scale)Sivvy wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2017 1:06 pmNothing crossed off my list last night but the set was fantastic and the slower acoustic version of Live Fast Die Old was just beautiful - I love the original but this was brilliant. my only gripe was the fact that we spent the afternoon watching the bands upstairs (which was great) & when we got turfed out made our way downstairs into the bar on the ground floor only to be told if we wanted to re enter we would have to leave the venue & join the bloody great queue outside (in the rain) as we could not re enter from the bar side, this wasn't to bad for us as we had seating tickets so could wait until it had cleared but felt sorry for the guys & girls that had been supporting the bands upstairs all afternoon that had to get to the back of the line so had no chance of a prime spot in the main hall, we missed a bit of Bean's set due to this

Re: Lost Evenings
Trying to gather my thoughts as I sit half-asleep on the train home - what a weekend. While there were so many highlights - the incredible set lists, the fantastic supports (Marwoooooood in particular was phenomenal, as always), the onstage storytelling, Frank's truly epic crowd-surfing lap of honour to close the festival - the overwhelming memory for me is how utterly lovely everyone was. From the Roundhouse staff, to the guys at the Monarch, to the SGFW and NAMT volunteers, to the fellow fans in the queues and at the shows, everyone was just so friendly, happy, kind and welcoming. (With the sole exception of the bloke who peed on me, of course, but you can't have everything). So many strangers connecting with one another, giving away spare tickets, sharing accommodation and travel tips, holding spots and buying drinks for each other, sharing tissues and hugs when people got overwhelmed by the more emotional songs . . . so many new friendships formed over the course of the last few days.
I've honestly never encountered another community like it, and I'm proud to be a part of it. Thanks Frank and everyone else involved for a perfect weekend. Same time next year, right?!

Re: Lost Evenings
Frank made Spotify playlists of the setlists from the shows. I got a nasty shock when listening to the playlist from night 3...
