Two big recommendations from me...
First and foremost, 1000 Palms by Surfer Blood is probably the best album I have heard all year. Beach Boys-esque harmonies and summery guitars. I really cannot recommend it enough.
Also, Where Were You? by PJ Bond is very nice also. Quite country.

It's very very good. I got it on "dirty yellow" vinyl, which is very nice. /100 apparently.

Can't remember which I ordered, I assume it comes with a download code as well though?
Have you heard PJ's other recordings?

I presume so. The vinyl isn't done by Xtra Mile (which would always have one), and I failed to check.Rubber_Soul wrote:Can't remember which I ordered, I assume it comes with a download code as well though?

I have heard a couple of other things. I checked him out a few months ago when he signed to XMR as I was working on some stuff for him and thought I should at least know what he sounds like.
EDIT: It does indeed have a download

That's good then. Each release he's done just seems to get stronger and stronger but I was really impressed with his last two eps. He's playing the Addistock busking stage at 2000 Trees if you are around on the Friday.

Very positive review of the latest Addistock release from Chris Callander here - http://www.liverpoolsoundandvision.co.u ... um-review/ have just put in for another print as the first batch sold out within days!
Also if people haven't heard them already the B-Sydes and Charlie Barnes albums have been released recently and are well worth spending your hard earned money on.

Damn shame, I might see you at the Xtra Mile event the night before if you are there.Evan wrote:Rubber_Soul wrote:That's good then. Won't be at that either as it goes. School night - someone needs to babysit.

Both the Chris Callander and B-Sydes are just ace and I love them. Buy them both immediately.
Plus I got a nice note from Ben about being the furthest away there was an order, so there's that.

Re: New cd reviews...........
This moving new releases to Friday is stupid.
Anyway - New Jason Isbell is out this week. Based on a few listens I think it might be better than Southeastern.

Very good, but not better than Southeaston, for me at least.placidcasual76 wrote:This moving new releases to Friday is stupid.

Anyone who likes a bit of country should check out 'Traveller' by Chris Stapleton

Re: New cd reviews...........
And another pretty nice one is 'Keep The Village Alive' by The Stereophonics.
They've developed into a pretty solid outfit in my opinion. The singles 'C'Est La Vie' and 'I Wanna Get Lost With You' led me to this one and there are other solid tracks like 'White Lies', 'Song For The Summer' and 'My Hero' (not the Foo Fighters' song) here too.
Perhaps their singles aren't quite as strong as in their earlier hit making days, but the albums are pretty consistent these days and they seem confident in their position and fanbase now I think.
Never seen them live and perhaps I should sometime.
