frank's publisher has a had a slight commercial disagreement with Amazon proper, so it might be more expensive there

I pre-ordered at £14 and it looks like it's up to £20 now. I cancelled my pre order and got the kindle edition, I've got the fan edition hardback and there's no point in having two hard copies.

More than a little bit pleased to discover that I am mentioned on page 2.

So I don't want to open a new thread... if anyone knows anyone who's willing to sell his or her fan edition, I'm more than pleased. I was to late to order it and now I got to know there are many photos of my friends and me inside and now I'm really sad I ddin't make it.

I would also like a fan edition please.

I have just finished the book, and I very much enjoyed it.

I got home from the (amazing) Cecil Sharp House show last night to find that, due to a combination of being wantonly trigger-happy with my internet shopping and my friends all having the same birthday present ideas, I am now the proud owner of no fewer than seven copies of said book. (Only one fan edition though - sorry, Suitcaselife).

If anyone wants me, I'll be building a fort. Or playing a game of giant book-Jenga.

[Edit: I've just had another copy arrive in my office this morning . . . got to love my friends and their knowledge of my ideal reading material. Do I win some kind of prize??]

I got the Kindle version yesterday. It's great to see how other musicians I've seen pop up in the social circle. Kind of makes a connection. I already knew that Frank had a pretty varied musical taste but I was amazed to find that I've seen most of the acts he mentions in the first part of the book from Neil Young onwards. I'm really enjoying it but I can't put my finger on why. It's a bit like sharing one of his performances; he has the same 'on the level' relationship with his readers as he does with his audiences. Anyway, enough of this before I start to sound like a 1D fan. (Interested in the 5th spot Frank?) :D

I am waiting for my fan edition to arrive.

So in the meantime I downloaded it on my iphone and started reading it last night. I've not read a book in ages but read about half of it in one sitting.

And was gobsmacked and utterly honoured to get a mention in it (albeit with the wrong surname  ) .

It's brilliant reading about people you know - like Evan, Jay, Chris T-T - and also having been to a fair amount of the gigs in there is also great.

I look forward to finishing the rest of it over the weekend.

I saw that and chuckled. Dan Martin is a journalist who definitely used to be around a bit in the Million Dead and early days. He was at 93 Feet East in January as it goes.

Frank knows too many Dans.

So close to being immortalised in music history - yet so far.

Hopefully I can be included again in the sequel.

He also knows an unusual amount of Evans. There are three of us in there, although the other two are musicians/talented.

Pete also makes a very brief appearance.

Update - the fan edition just landed on my door step!

it's very nice, but the dust cover has got a bit beaten up in the postal packaging which is a real shame.
