Hi Daire - that is so kind of you. It has been said before but it is true - Frank Turner fans are the best.
I am sorted. Darlene (Darlenet here on the forum) sold me her copy. I am chuffed with it and I am reading the 'Poetry of the deed' section right now. Favourite parts so far are the Latvian and Russian adventures and the story about English guy Will.
Thanks again for your offer.

Daire, if you're still willing to part with your copy let me know, also based in Dublin-ish.

Perfect. I can't see a pm function on this message board. If you're on Twitter look me up @dmack737 and we'll sort it out.

Will do, it's probably going to be later on next week before I can sort something out with you, but I'll send you a message in the mean time.

Last time he played Latitude, he and I wandered around with Scarlet Page (famous photographer and daughter of Rock God Jimmy Page) taking pictures of us "relaxing", one of which made the cover of the program the following year, and was featured in all sorts of promotional stuff they did. Amusing, because anyone who has read the entry for this show in the book will know that he was absolutely wrecked (not that I wasn't of course). I did a lot of lying on the ground that day.

watergirl, I am very happy to see the you were able to get a copy of the fan edition! Kudos to darlenet, that was very thoughtful, she is a good person for sure.

I reread the Jannis Live part and can totally understand why tampateri was so thrilled to learn that If I Ever Stray was written here in Florida. She told me the story of wanting those lyrics as her tattoo when we met in St Pete in 2013 as part of the flag ambassador group so to read how Frank remembers his time in St Pete writing that song ( as almost a religious experience) is pretty darn cool. Life is stranger than fiction and we're all in this together!

He also mentions in that part of the book how odd it can be to be the only non Americans in a room full of people. I know I brought American flags to Springsteen's Wembley show in 1985, so the next show we go to, Perry can wear his Twickenham rugby shirt or his English football shirt so they know there are other English guys in the room. Just hope it is soon.

I got the nicest surprise in the mail today! It is a copy of The Road Beneath My Feet and it was sent via UK Amazon from my English sister in law, Gina! I can't tell you the last time a prezzie came in the mail for me unexpected and it made my day!

I called to thank her but she was out seeing Patsy Seger in London tonight so I thanked my borther in law and didn't have that awkward moment of having to tell her I allready own the fan edition!

Happy weekend reading!

I am so,so sorry for the experience Frank and (especially) Evan had there.

Kind of explains something to me- probably would not have picked my screen name if I knew the disdain some here have/had for the state of New Jersey.

Frank, I am so glad you didn't let that one experience keep you from going back to my home state. Evan, since I now live in Florida, home of Disney and beautiful beaches, my offer to host you and your family remains.

It ended up being a fun night. We went to a place in Brooklyn that gives you free pizza when you order a beer, and then I slept under a table in some guy's front room (the talent gets the couch, obviously). Frank played in Hoboken a couple of days later and it was one of the best shows I have seen him do, so I personally hold nothing against New Jersey. Was a weird one though.
So, I learned earlier today that Frank and the Sleeping souls are heading back to the Starland Ballroom for a show in December. That's good, I'm sure everything will look all pretty for Christmas!

I have a funny story for you all! Two, actually.

My husband and I flew from Sarasota, Florida to Dallas, TX for a show last week and Frank had a meet & greet/signing at a local record store- Good Records.

I put a mini bottle of Jameson of our carry on bag hoping we'd get it through security. Well, poor Perry had our bag pulled and the second HSA who went through it found nothing in the main bag, nothing in the first pocket, then bam!, he pulls out my tube of toothpaste and says with a smirk, "you can't bring this on". OK, throw it away, sir. And off we went!

So, I got my book signed and Perry gave Frank a mini Jameson!

Then, we get home and I give my copy of England Keep My Bones (that I bought in Dallas in order to get a wristband for the signing) to my good friends son, Anthony, aged 25, who is visiting from New Jersey. I told him that Frank and the SS will be playing at the Starland Ballroom in December and if I buy him a couple of tickets, would he go to the show? He responds, "Do you want to go? I work there!!!" He works as stage crew- the kid is massive, I'd love him as a pit buddy!

He said that in 2012 during Hurricane Sandy there was 6 feet of water in the building so it has all been gutted and rebuilt, like most of the Jersey Shore. I might have to take another road trip- I mean another fucking flight!
