The cost was one of the reasons why I didn't buy it straight away and ended up missing out
Same here! Also... being busy at work during the day and once I had a spare moment to think about the costs the books were already sold. Well, maybe next time :D Still very much looking forward to the regular version of the book.

I was really sorry to miss out on the limited edition. I'm not surprised it sold out so quickly. Besides if it didn't, there wouldn't be much point in calling it "limited", now would there?

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but many special edition books especially with extra photos, plus the editing involved, are pricey. I work hard for my money, and I felt the cost was worth it for me. Your decision, buy it or not. I am going to say I'm calling you out on your statement "ripping off your best fans." It is is inaccurate, and kind of pisses me off. There is much evidence to the contrary. Ticket prices are reasonable and merch prices are comparable. The amount of charity causes that Frank supports, including performances for charity suggests that "ripping off" fans is not a driving force for him.

Strange question, but I much prefer paperbacks to hardcover books. Just think they are prettier. Sometimes it means I have to wait….
Any idea whether the regular book will be hardcover or paperback?

Initial print run is hardback afaik. I think we do paperback later.

This, really. Ripping someone off implies that he's pulling a fast one on us or somehow forcing us to purchase expensive books. We're not intellectually handicapped, so we can decide whether the $58 is worth it to us or whether we'd like a cheaper book. It's not like skipping the fan edition means you can't attend his shows anymore. It's just a nice collectible if you choose to and can spend money on collectible books. A lot of books have a special run -- like art or music releases often do. How on earth does that make the author an asshole? Making a short run of an item comes with its own costs, as Darlene mentioned, and they aren't spread out over many books.
And honestly, even if it weren't for all that ... really? "Fucking done"? One limited-edition book price somehow negates years of low-as-possible ticket prices, fair-priced merch, hours and hours devoted to responding to fans, etc.?
Unfortunately I missed out on the limited edition book, but I'm sure for those who got it, it will be a really nice, unique piece to have.

I have been a fan of SanDimas1988's post for many years. I am probably the biggest fan going, as I have read all but two of them. But abusive moaning about the price of a limited edition book? Fuck you. I am fucking done. You’re entirely underestimating the cost of producing a short run of hardback books, and blaming the author for the price.

What grinds my gears is alot will be straight on ebay at 2,3 times the original price.
Maybe Frank should have charged double for the book, ha.

Ah but the clever bit is that your name is printed in the book as part of the deal, any personalised merch is not sort after so the real value is only to the purchaser.

£35 for a book vs £250 for a record.

The ltd Aphex twin record was £250.

https://bleep.com/syro-limited-edition

I don't think anyone said that was a rip off. Instead the people who purchased it were offered the change to buy something they wanted to.

No one held a gun to their heads and made them do it.

I actually think a unique book at £35 is better value than say £30-£40 on a band hoodie which I'm sure has a greater profit margin on it.

soooo looking forward to this, its been on my potential christmas list for a few years & I've been trying soo hard to be patient.

I have freinds who don''t know who frank is (other than that guy I listen to and go to gigs) who asked if it was finally availble for them to buy for me for christmas ... had to tell them I got giddy and pre ordered it as soon as it came up - they are disgusted. I've been badgering them for so long they actualy wanted to get it for me :-)

I have the best freinds :-) <3 :-) they got me gig tickets and money for cds/merch instead :-)
