He recently named The Tailors as one of his biggest influences too!

I couldn't tell you what I think his infulences are just fro listening to his music... because I've seen soe of his tatoos and read too any interviews so I know what he has actually said his influences are...

If you look at his tattoos he directly references UK Hardcore, Inside Out (who later became Rage against the Machine), Godspeed.. , Black Flag, Townz Van Zandt, The Hold Steady

indirectly, (most of which are buddy Tattoos) Lucerco, The Architects, Jon Sodgrass, Jim Lockey, Fake Problems, Palehorse, Green Day, Iron Maiden

also two tattoos that referance authors that also influence lyrics - Philip Larkin and TS Elliot

then there are the interviews Frank has done

This one is a pretty good place to start

Would like to point out that's the US Architects I believe, not the UK band!

Also for the Million Dead era also look into Refused, the band name is from one of their songs.

OMG... Laughed till I hit my head on the shelves.. ummm ok -

Tomaz -
I have sleep disorder. I find it hard to get to sleep, and hard to stay asleep, to the point of which I get very little "Good Quality" sleep. When its really bad I have a choice... try to sleep and deal with my own thoughts (*shudders*) or DO SOMETHING

After I met FT for the first time I looked him up on the internet and found the tour diaries. Nice bite sized bits to watch so I'm not trying to watch/engage with a full length film at 03:00 in the morning... that lead to some links to video interviews & Frank is really good at interviews ...

my secret is out - I watch or read FT interviews when I can't sleep (Just realised that makes me sound like a stalker - I also watch Fail videos, cat videos, and sci-fi, amongst other things)

want the interview links to the tattoo info? Just ask & I'll dig them out for you :-)

Darlenet -

Thank you! <3

It didn't look like that when I posted it - now I can't get penguins out of my head!

You should also check out songs by other bands that Frank has covered - there is a thread on this forum, I just updated it so it should be fairly near the top...

and of course bands referenced in Franks own songs :-) of which there are a few

I've been thinking for a while we ought to have a sticky thread that serves as an "unofficial FAQ" in the Ask Me section, to complement the official one http://frank-turner.com/contact-faq/, and deal with a lot of these repeat questions that come up.

In much the same way the official FAQ tries to stop people emailing frank asking things he's answered a thousand times already, such an unofficial one here would try to stop repeat questions being posted in the forum that frank's already previously posted answers to, or answered in interviews etc.

I will admit I thought about it, but haven't actually done anything about it. Work, training and life seem to be getting in the way of my forum presence these days. That said, Bella, would you be up for compiling such a thing? Referencing frank's answers here and in other respectably quotable sources (with links, obviously, let's get obsessive about referencing our sources). It seems you might be the ideal person, by the sound of it..

sounds like a plan to me.

was wondering about a fuller FAQ or an unofficial one somewhere.

I don't mind putting something together, need to think about how to do it so people can find stuff easily....

I think I just followed you on twitter????? - if you want to DM me there I can give you my email if you want to run some ideas at me?

Kenny, I think I love you: "Let's get obsessive about referencing our sources." Pretty much what I repeat about 10 times to anyone who does any work for me.

Having said that, Bella is a star. It's a brilliant idea, I reckon. Go, Bella!
