Four Simple Words

Post by bm1344 » Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:43 pm

I couldn't find any mention of this anywhere, but does anyone else think that:
a) the studio version of Four Simple Words is unbelievably good?
b) it sounds subtley different to EKMB and old Frank. I couldn't put my finger on it, be it his voice or the guitars or something but that fancy new producer has clearly made a slightly different sound.

Anyone else agree?

Overall though Frank, epic Xmas pressie! Thanks :D

There's definitely a difference in production of his voice, I can't put my finger on how exactly, maybe 'singing' a bit more than the shouty singing of the past, this is in no way a negative, Four Simple Words is unbelievable, wayyy above my expectations (and my expectations were ridiculously high)

In conclusion Frank is still the greatest musician on this planet right now

Sounds a bit more punk on the studio version, it's fantastic though. I've been looking forward to this one being released and I'm really pleased on how it came out.

And now I can finally learn the lyrics because Frank sings too fast live.
"Movebusty? Yes, I've played it in scrabble many times."

Fun fact. The vocal mic we used for the album is the one Talking Heads used for all their classic records. There's a rumour Sinatra used it too.

I agree with what has been said before, it's an incredible song and has been constantly on repeat since yesterday. Thank you so much for such a nice Christmas present!!

Fantastic song, I got caught out singing along to it yesterday at the top of my lungs thinking I was alone and some-one was in the next room, looking good for the new album.

On a side note, but is it just me or does the start of the song remind any-body of "Always look on the bright side of life"

It sounds great and like others I found that this was the first time I could hear all the words properly.

'Cowboy chords' as B-side though.... Does that mean it is going to be the next 'Balthazar Impresario', i.e. a masterpiece kept away from the ears of the general public? Hope not.

Hearing this live was awesome, purely for the high tempo and general kick-ass-ness of the song (new word), but the recorded version is even more special. After the song kicks in I paid little attention to the verses, but now that I have listened properly it's great song writing too. The part about hipsters and guitar music being out of fashion made me laugh
