Favourite and worst album of 2012

Post by smithyramfan » Mon Oct 29, 2012 10:55 pm

Slightly bored so out of curiosity what are peoples favourite and worst albums they've bought/heard this year.

For me best would possibly be JL&TSL Death or maybe Gaslight Anthem Handwritten.
The worst would be Mumford & Sons Babel closely followed by Muse The 2nd Law. Both reminding me i should really listen to an album online before i buy it

So whats everyone elses?

Same with JL&TSS or Gaslight, Listened to handwritten so many times it just never get old!

Ans again, I would recommend listening to an album before buying it as I didn't do this with my worst one The Cribs - In the Belly of the Brazen Bull. Just so poor!

I feel like all my most anticipated albums this year were garbage! The Killers- Battle Born and Muse- the 2nd Law, especially. Matt & Kim's new album Lightning was pretty good, but it pains me to call that the "best"!

I can't wait for next year-- Frank's new record, Gogol Bordello,Franz Ferdinand, Frightened Rabbit, The Black Keys, Rage Against the Machine... bring on 2013!
Making someone feel that it is okay for them to be exactly who they are is the greatest kindness one human being can do for another.

Always make 'em laugh, try to make 'em cry-- always take the stage like it's the last night of your life.

I have to say i quite liked battle born, the middle of the album is a bit iffy but it starts and finishes well. Looking forward to 2013 just cos of Frank's album :)

i don't think babel was too bad, definately not worth the hype though.

My least favorite is the new muse one, they've just got shit :( My best is probably the pulled apart by horses latest (was that this year?!). When i first saw this i thought, its a bit early in 2012 to pick best albums, then it clicked its nearly november. How time flies

There are some good songs on there but i think theres more filler on there than good stuff.

Its only when people have bin talking about halloween that ive noticed how far into the year we are. with muse similar to M&S some good songs but more filler on there. Plus the bassline on panic station really annoys me with how similar it is to another one bites the dust :x

My favorite is, uh ... Muse's. Been condemned by some as a nitwit fangirl for liking it, but I genuinely love it for the most part. I'm willing to admit I'd prefer Origin of Symmetry and Absolution any day and miss that eras of their stuff, but don't expect them to just recreate those albums over and over. What they make now, I enjoy too. I especially like the last two tracks on 2nd Law and the first. My second-favorite, maybe even tied for first, is Keane's Strangeland. Wasn't really sure what to expect as I wasn't overly wild about their album before it, but I totally love the new one. I listening to it loads after I lost my job this summer; it kept me sane.
Least favorite, off the top of my head, honestly can't think of one. I didn't buy that many albums this year unless I was fairly sure I'd like it. There's still a few I haven't checked out yet.
Plenty I'm excited about next year, starting with Frank's of course and also Biffy Clyro's.
2011: 8/26, 28, 11/4(x2); 2012: 2/21, 22, 23, 24, 3/9, 11, 12, 18, 9/8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 28, 29, 30; 2013: 6/5, 6, 7(x2), 8, 7/26, 31, 8/1, 2, 10/4, 5, 11/16, 19, 29(X2). 2014: 6/4. 2015: 3/8, 9(x2), 5/12, 13, 14, 15. 18

forgot about strangeland. Hated the night train ep that they did a few years ago and thought this was a good return to form. not outstanding (apart from disconnected thats one of my favourite songs of the year!) but a decent album for me

Didn't hate Night Train but it definitely was not my thing and I was worried that'd be the direction they'd continue to go. They actually debuted Disconnected at a gig I was at in Philly two years ago so that did give me a ray of hope at the time; terrific song. The bonus track titled Strangeland is my favorite on the album, or Sea Fog if you don't count bonus tracks.

Favourite: future of the left - the plot against common sense
Least Favourite: The release of 'the plot against common sense' made me forget that any other albums had been released in 2012.

What about the new green day one? I really quite liked it and thought it had a couple of killer tracks on it (nothing compared to dookie though) but I had a mate that really didn't dig it till she'd listened to it quite a few times.

My favourite has got to be Babel, don't understand all this criticism, it is epic! My most disappointing album has got to be the Killers Battle Born. After 4 years out the album was a real disappointment.
