1. I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous - It was the first Frank song I heard and at a time where I had pretty narrow music tastes completely changed my attitude to music.
2. The Ballad of Me and My Friends - I think like for most people it's that last bit that does it, nothing beats shouting "We're definitely going to hell" at the top of your voice with a group of people.
3. Love Ire and Song - Partly because of the lyrics partly because of the Irish sounding music, which I love.
4. Back In The Day - Great fun little song, and the fact that I heard it first when I was about to go on holiday to Spain last year, got me excited for the trip.
5. If Ever I Stray - This song can fit absolutely any mood, I can put it on when I'm down and feel good, put it on when I'm doing good and it get's me doing a little better.
6. I Still Believe - This is essentially the spirit of everything we all love about music. 'Nuff said.
7. Rivers - Just how incredibly English this song is, an American would sing about the beauty of the desert in Nevada, in England a guy sings about it's rivers and countryside.
8. Dan's Song - Again it's mostly the spirit of the song and how we shouldn't let us growing older slow us down even though things might have changed.
9. Journey of the Magi - Really hope this starts appearing live again soon, first heard it on the Shepard's Bush DVD and think it has a fantastic message and I love the sort of historical context it's put into.
10. Photosynthesis - You all thought I was going to leave this out didn't you? Simple really.. because I will never sit down, never shut up, and most definitely not grow up.

That was bloody hard, I really wanted to include: Wisdom Teeth, Four Simple Word, Casanova Lament, The Real Damage and Recovery. But I think based on how often I play songs my final 10 is more reasonable.

I like it, but I don't consider it an acceptable selection because I feel that song belongs to Eva Mae and Eva Mae alone. It just so happens that frank is particularly inefficient at distributing personalised songs, choosing to deliver it to her in the medium of a mass-produced album. Nonetheless, a successful means of doing so, so I can't really fault the method.

I tried various ways of giving the previously 'tied' ones points , but could never get the total to 55 satifactorily.
Easy. Take the mean value of the points you would have allocated to those songs if they'd been in an order, (ie: the total number of points they would have got, divided by the number of songs) and give all of those songs that mean value of points.

I am disappeared gets 10 points, No change.

Live fast die old (9 points), Poetry of the deed (8 points), The Real Damage (7 points), Try this at home (6 points). Mean value is 7.5 points, so they all get 7.5 points each.

A song for Eva Mae (5 points), Wanderlust (4 points), Balthazar (3 points). Mean value is 4 points, so they all get 4 points each.

To take you home (2 points), R&RR (1 point). Mean value is 1.5 points, so they get 1.5 points each.

Which gives you 10 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 7.5 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 1.5 + 1.5 = 55 points.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo

Eva Mae belongs to all of us! Just like all of Franks songs....

One of the many things I love about the way Frank writes is that the situations are so easily relate-able to. Frank makes it so easy to put yourself (or someone you know) into the song instead of Eva Mae, Dan, Amy, and all the others.

I know he wrote it for her, I also delighted he chose to share it with us.

I'm thrilled it's on the album - I know that if my Auntie May had listened to this she would have said "This song could easily be from me to you". I know that my Niece and Nephew think of me as this kind of Auntie - which is amazing!

I had a terrible time trying to pick my top ten, would have preferred top 20, still hard but more songs get a mention. Eva Mae didn't make the top ten, because it was 11 on the list... sorry Evan.

Yes, but my first decision as the guy organising was I'M NOT DEALING IN HALF POINTS in order to accommodate ties! LOL

Amy worked in a bar in Exeter, Springsteen came clear in my headphones - Frank, did you write these lyrics for me?

********** UPDATE. **********

i have decided that this vote will run until 30th November 2012 initially.

On 1st December 2012, at the gig in Bath, I hope to present Frank with the spreadsheet including all votes up until
30th November, for what it's worth.

The usernames of the posters will be included on the speadsheet and if you wish to edit your post, your real names
may be added.

Maybe, we'll continue after then if votes are still being submitted. Please keep them coming.

Reckon Evan and Dani may take issue with that. Unless of course you're offering babysitting services.

Wouldn't worry. It might not make my top ten either to be honest. Sentiment aside, I reckon he has at least 10 songs better than that.

just to be clear I meant the Song rather the person belongs to all of us ;-)
