I think we are going to score it so give rearranging it a go if you don't mind.

Update - Results After Page 1

@darlenenet I've assumed yours was in reverse order so I allocated 10 points to Tell Tale Signs (forgive me if I misunderstood your intention but you were the only one to do the order 10-1 rather than 1-10) - you were right & it was a nightmare to do by hand so I'd be very grateful if you can arrive at a spreadsheet that'll do it more easily......lol

@ Tomasz - I didn't include yous until you edit it into order or submit it again in a 1-10 order.

Overall then

1 with 21 points - Photosynthesis
2 equal with 20 points - Love, Ire & Song &
- I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous
4 equal with 19 points - I Am Disappeared &
- The Next Round
6 with 16 points - Father's Day
7 with 15 points - Redemption
8 equal with 14 points - I Still Believe &
- One Foot Before The Other
10 equal with 13 points - Worse Things Happen At Sea &
- Vital Signs

Forgive me any miscalculations - I hope the spreadsheet will correct them.

HOPEFULLY, this will give an indication of how it works & you can see how your ranking might affect the outcome. The more opinions the better obviously as at this stage if 3 people ranked a song at No1 it would rank No 1 overall too with 30 points.

Hope you're enjoying it so far. It's already bought a couple of songs to my attention that I'm going to re-listen to.

@bossman: Yeah, it's a cool project. It's amazing how many different songs affect people in different ways.

Not surprised I did my list backwards. That is totally me. The spreadsheet is done and sorted alphabetically with cumulative totals (OCD is a wickedly wonderful thing when used for good). If you want it, email me and I'll send it to you. darlenetuc@earthlink.net

Firstly, I was quite unsure on whether to create a list as I love so many Frank songs, but I have managed to narrow it down, although I wouldn't give any of these songs under 9/10

1. Redemption, the whole song, Frank's honesty, I just relate so much to the lyrics, and it's an epic rock song.
2. I Am Disappeared, I love this song as it just shows off the skill Frank has now developed in song writing, it's a cracking tune.
3. Balthazar, Impresario, simply, up there with the best songs ever written, by anyone. I really do wish Frank had put this on EKMB main album and let more people hear it.
4. Tell Tale Signs, this has sold me on the new album, clearly Frank isn't ready to have a bad album yet. Relate to the lyrics and story told, was weeping as soon as I heard it.
5. To Take You Home, beautiful love tale, that's all.
6. Substitute, one of the least soppy love songs ever, a wonderful tribute to music.
7. Ballad Of Me and My Friends, specifically this version, it just sums up a Frank Turner gig, and how powerful his music is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAZKx7Iq2p4
8. Fathers Day (2009 version ie on The Second Three Years at the Union Chapel gig).
9. Long Live The Queen, first song I heard by Frank back in 2008, immediately in love.
10. Eulogy, not much needs saying, just makes me sing along every time.
17/03/10, 16/06/10, 04/03/11, 18/05/11, 26/11/11, 13/04/12, 18/08/12, 23/08/12 (MH), 17/11/12, 31/12/12, 17/04/13, 11/07/13, 12/07/13, 24/08/13, 09/02/14, 12/02/14, 28/6/14 (MH), 02/08/14, 12/09/14, 27/09/14, 28/09/14, 28/01/15, 17/03/15, 10/08/2015 x2..

I feel like this list might be totally different if I wrote it again tomorrow, was hard to whittle down.

10) This Town Ain't Big Enough For The One Of Me ... First FT song I heard, my home town all over.
9) Worse Things Happen At Sea... who hasn't felt like this?! Love the anger pouring out the second half of this song.
8) Dan's Song... My best friend's favourite FT song and always makes me smile.
7) Photosynthesis... themes we can all relate to, awesome to sing along to.
6) Long Live The Queen... such a beautiful song about such a sad subject, it reduces everyone I play it to to tears.
5) Song For Eva Mae... Listened to EKMB a lot while my sister was pregnant with (and eventually had) my nephew, I was out of the country and this one felt relevant.
4) Eulogy... My funeral song
3) Tell Tale Signs... Discovered this a few weeks ago, having recently come out a pretty destructive relationship it hits the nail on the head
2) Love, Ire and Song... lyrics I wish I'd written.
1) I Am Disappeared... have this tattooed on my leg. The claustrophobia, the panic, the screaming in the middle of the night... they're life's darker moments and it's nice to know you're not the only one dealing with it. Plus it's an incredible song.

Not sure the church or crematorium is gonna let you play the entirity of Eulogy, not that you'll care by then.....lol

Can I assume 'I am Disappeared' is your favourite of that ten and therefore to be allocated 10 points?

You can use Google Docs to compile and display spreadsheets to an audience. You can upload an Excel file and import it, too.

Yes, sorry I did it backwards...

I'd make some loose threats about 'if they try and bury me in a church...' but you're right, I wouldn't be able to do much about it...

I'll give this a try. It changes from time to time though.

1) I Am Disappeared - got to me immediately. The lyrics really hit, I can relate to the feelings described in the song.
2) Father's Day - had me weeping the first couple of times I heard it, no joke. Reminds me very much of mine and my brother's relationship with our father. Plus Frank's singing in the live version... Heartbreaking, beautiful!
3) To Take You Home - I adore the melody, feels like a little fairytale to me for some reason. Sweet song that always makes me smile.
4) Redemption - epic song!
5) Glory Hallelujah - just so spot on, exactly my thoughts on religion.
6) Balthazar, Impresario - gorgeous.
7) Sailor's Boots - so "simple" but so great.
8 ) Eulogy - 'cause it's awesome.
9) If Ever I Stray
10) Wanderlust

Harder than I expected! But as you can see I'm mostly into England Keep My Bones at the moment.

Oh, that's right, you're the computer guy. I just did a quickie in Excel. Basic list of songs alphabetized, then a total with a calculating field. I was feeling my OCD kick in, so I had to rein it in. Didn't want to overdo it and kill the spirit with technology. But I must say, the Google Docs is intriguing to me. Bossman is welcome to do something else, I just hated the thought of him doing this by hand.

Thanks. I just love the smart, clever, witty, talented, sarcastic, smart-assed folks on this forum.

Cheers! Darlene

Wow, take it easy. Was genuinely trying to help. I reserve my malice on this forum for spammers and lazy journalists these days. Too tired to start vendettas with anyone else. :-)
