I Am Disappeared?

Being such a fan as I am of the song and, indeed, the whole album, I can't help but feel that someone who was truly running away wouldn't have time to take a shower first. I'm not sure whether to take this shower as a comment on the half-heartedness of the ideas being escaped from, a need to cleanse oneself of the thoughts that have preceded the running or my slightly drunken over-complication of an easy rhyme. Or just having completely missed the point, which is also possible. Please help me discuss.

I always figured it implied some sort of permanent running away. If you're going to completely leave a life behind there's no need to be literally sprinting out of the door, it's probably not going to catch you up, and what better way to start a new life than having a clean first?

Having a quick 5 min shower always wakes me up in the morning ... If I don't have a shower I feel sluggish all day long

I always took the shower bit as a wiping away that part past kinda thing. In totality I thought that part of the song spoke to not having any attachment to the past and the ease, not necessarily speed, which you move onto the next part of your life. just my 2c.

Isn't it all a dream, though? I don't think I've ever dreamed about showering.

...is about wanted to 'rid' feelings of disgust at the brutal capabilities of humans?

After watching the surrealist? controversial play 'Ubu Roi/King Ubu' by Jarry, a reviewer noted:
"Despite the late hour, I have just taken a shower. An absolutely essential preventive measure when one has been subjected to such a spectacle."

but, I guess, spectators are probably desensitised from all that now... as the lovely Telegraph review of a recent restaging suggests:

I figure unless you're in mortal danger, if you have the opportunity to shower, and you don't know when the next opportunity to shower will be, then shower.
