Re: A little Worried
Also well into my forties here and went to my first Frank gig (I call it a show) alone and then travelled across the country to see him twice more. I've travelled solo across North America to see Springsteen. Many of my friends have not heard of Frank either, though I have since converted a couple of them who are coming with me to the next show.
To be honest, Frank's audiences do tend towards the young side, so at times I feel like the oldest one in the room. But there truly are others there our age and besides, its about the music ain't it?
Artists like Frank and Bruce build a community with their concerts so you will never truly be alone or out of place. I would far rather go to a show solo than go with someone who is at best indifferent and where I then end up spending the time worrying about whether my friend is having a good time. I'm selfish like that when it comes to artists who have changed my life.
Have a blast!

The gigs I've gone to are a nice mix of young people and older punkrockers. I think it's pretty impossible to look out of place at a FT concert unless you're sitting down, arms crossed, frowning without a beer in your hand.
"Movebusty? Yes, I've played it in scrabble many times."
Re: A little Worried
If I remember correctly, there were a bunch of 30 and 40 somethings at the first show I went to. Some even brought their young son! Pretty awesome parents if I do say so myself!

Not having a beer in hand is enough reason to frown I think.JLT_CFC wrote:The gigs I've gone to are a nice mix of young people and older punkrockers. I think it's pretty impossible to look out of place at a FT concert unless you're sitting down, arms crossed, frowning without a beer in your hand.

As often, I totally agree with you, Silvio Lives.Artists like Frank and Bruce build a community with their concerts so you will never truly be alone or out of place. I would far rather go to a show solo than go with someone who is at best indifferent and where I then end up spending the time worrying about whether my friend is having a good time.
Sometimes I do the conventional thing and ask a friend along to a gig, but I always end up regretting it when they don't want to go early, talk too much throughout or (worst crime) get absorbed into their mobile phone!

Re: A little Worried
ok perhaps you ....and I are not his obvious demographic agewise but as everyone has said arfer no need to worry at all, I certainly don't and I won't see 50 again, been going to gigs and festivals for 35 yrs or more & can't see me stopping anytime soon, so just sing along and enjoy the show!!
Re: A little Worried
I'm 49 and have seen Frank 34 times in the past 2.5 years. Not once did i feel out of place at the shows. I think that his music and what he has to say and how he goes about it appeal to just about anybody that likes rock and roll. Now my wife and both daughters are huge fans and all of us are traveling from Los Angeles to see the Wembley show. If you are singing along, then you will be at the right f**king gig

Roger is awesome. I can't understand a thing he says, but he's still awesome.xandmatt wrote:That is now my direction in life.Blonde wrote:Theres an old guy in Nottingham (he has to be in his 60s at least) who goes to a lot of gigs, mainly local acts but you can see him in Rescue Rooms pretty much every Monday night for Acoustic Rooms. If he hasn't heard of your band, you're not in one.

On a note almost related to the thread, I partially managed to convince myself that the Wembley gig would be horrendous. Doing so was an absolute necessity. However, in truth, I can only recall one gig at which little twats threatened to ruin my entire evening. Once I'd moved away from them, things improved (until, funnily enough, an older twat - who later pissed Frank off fairly severely - latched onto me and posed a similar threat for a while). My point, if ever I had one, was that age is not a problem. Twattishness can be (if not successfully avoided/shut down).
