So...frank's twitter is inferior to his blog? Or he's the only one out of those nominated who can write lengthy yet insightful diatribes?

They really need to refer to it as the best social media award or something, frank wins on twitter, blog, forums and Facebook. Tweeting is nothing maintaining a community is hard.
I'd rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know.

Hummm...

Frank definitely deserves best solo artist in my opinion, and it could be interesting if the only ones voting are NME readers. However if Adele decides to do a "I'm nominated, Come and vote for me" post on her website, she is just gona wipe the floor with everyone else.

It's a shame because it highlights the one downside of public voted awards, the most popular artist often wins.

I've got nothing against Adele, In fact I think '21' is great. It just annoys me when other artists don't get their due credit.

Still!..... Anything could happen :-D

Is "alternative" music really in such a dire state as those nominations suggest? Arctic monkeys up for pretty much every award with muse and bombay bicycle club, no-one exciting or interesting nominated for everything (apart from our Frank, obv).

I think we're going to see a new nirvana come round and fuck shit up soon, who's it to be folks?

FT and Laura Marling are the only serious candidates in the Best Solo Artist. Adele? give me a break...

Serious question: WHO the fuck decides who to put in the categories ? 99% of all the nominees mean nothing to me, or my kids, and all of the people I know and have ever known so who are they catering for ? I remember when the NME was something you could rely on to have cutting edge perspectives but the very fact that they even print the words "One Direction" or "Muse" should tell us something.

The MIME awards had a seriously better choice of candidates.

Pretty sure the shortlists are decided by write-in public vote. If not, I don't know what that form was I filled out earlier about 30 times. And I did vote for Muse all over the place, so, sorry I ruined the NME with my un-cutting-edge taste.
Actually between Frank, Muse, The Vaccines and a handful of others, this is the most I can recall giving a crap about the NME finalists!

need some advice here cos I've skipped out many years' worth of bands & you have to pick a band to move on to the next. so apart from the two FT categories - suggest some names so if I don't know a band/artist to pick I can go with a suggestion otherwise I'll just do a random pick. thanks.

had a few spare minutes & voted.

Frank should definately have been up there for "Best fan community"
Would love to see Marling or Frank get Best solo, but Adele will probably have that one.
