User Control Panel (near the top of the screen)
Board Preferences
Then set "Summer Time/DST is in effect" to Yes.
Thank fuck for that - that itch had been driving me mad for aeons!

Here's my belated tuppenceworth: I initially found the new theme a little worrying, as I had always enjoyed the visual implication that the forum valued content over catchiness. (Perhaps I should've gone with "substance over style", although...no. The old theme had a style, as does everything!) However, I suppose that the update doesn't necessarily signal a genuine slide towards full-blown gimmickry. I still prefer the black, though...but that's because I'm getting old and am easily startled.

I wonder - will the theme change with every album release? If so, how much that might be allowed to affect the artwork?

You can change it to black in your user control panel under board settings.

You think the background to the forum is what's making the site go overbandwidth - Ctrl-R will pull it every time, would explain the increased traffic.

Nah, it's a 12kb graphic and it's tiled (compare to the Wembley crowd picture on the front page of frank-turner.com, for example - 200kb).

What's making the site go overbandwidth is the massive audience gain frank got from Wembley (plus everyone who heard about frank playing Wembley and now want in on the action) all flooding to the site every time he announces anything via twitter, FB, or on his blog. Which is a fantastic thing, but not so great when they head here looking for some awesome new piece of frank news, and instead get the over quota error screen.

Ultimately the issue is that he's on a hosting provider that appears to think it's commercially sound to apply traffic limits, when the same money gets you way more features and unlimited traffic elsewhere. frank informs me that "management" are getting someone in to look after the whole site on frank's behalf, so I presume a move to a new host is on the way.

On a more general point:

It's worth remembering that up until this point frank has built and run this entire site on his own. During and since the forum upgrade, I've offered a bit of guidance from time to time, but really it's been frank doing all the actual work. I don't have, and never have had, any administrative access to this forum or the site in general, I just offered the occasional email with instructions where I thought they could help.

It's been running reasonably solidly since 2005 and the only thing that's finally causing it to creak is the weight of the publicity from a headline show at Wembley (and the fact it is now starting to creak has nothing to do with frank), I'd say that's some pretty good work from the multi-talented Mr. Turner, there.

But, I concede that whilst being able to run your own website is nice and authentic and DIY, the idea that frank is spending the spare hours on tour running phpBB upgrades rather than, say, writing some awesome new song is probably not the best use of his time. So I reckon having someone to take all that trouble away from his inbox is an excellent thing.

Or he's a big sell-out. Whatever works for you. :)

This site is all good, especially considering the constraints on Frank's time. I've never seen a hosting package without bandwidth limits. Good that it's growing, probably should have checked the image with Firebug for its size.

Fairly common now, actually (google "unlimited hosting" for millions of hits). They apply fair use clauses, but mostly all they require is that you use it as a legitimate site and not just as a trading area for your pirate movie collection, so they're discretionary rather than specified monthly limits of data. The high usage hosting providers always offload their data to CDNs around the world anyway, and they always outsource that, so high demand on a website will always just be something that ends up being managed by Akamai or Amazon Web Services, and I doubt any of frank's major announcements could cause even the slightest blip in their monitoring graphs. :)

This is just a general thought that maybe a new colour scheme could be brought in to match the new artwork, be interesting to see

Tell me we're not gonna have a fucking pink forum to match the new album theme. Don't get me wrong, great artwork and I'm sure it'll be a great album, but it's all a bit too pink for my liking!

It's looking pretty good so far, but the site kind of hurt my eyes when it came up. It may have been because I wasn't expecting it.

I liked the green for the forum, the site looks awesome though!

One thing, discography isn't even close to complete! No first three years, rock and roll ep or and of your splits!

Also gigs seem to be in no particular order at all!

Is it meant to be pink? Because it's really REALLY white? My eyes hurt! :)
