The Frank Turner demo

Post by smige2 » Mon Jan 09, 2012 3:00 pm

I've read about an early 6-track demo of FT songs but I've never heard any of the recordings, apart from Longing for the Day. Could anybody advise me as to how to hear/acquire this? The songs are:

Romantic Fatigue
The Real Damage
Wisdom Teeth
Sunshine State
This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The One Of Me
Longing For The Day

There was a couple of versions of this to my knowledge. Some with 4 tracks, and some with 6. I have both, although i wouldnt even know where to start to find either. To be fair, not his greatest recordings.

I'd just like to have them for a sort of historical reference, being the nerd that I am.

I've got the 6 track version; I think Tony off here lent it to me yonks ago. I do like the version of "This Town" off it actually.

It's nothing too exciting though to be honest.

Any chance one of you two could upload it, assuming a) it's legal to do so and b) Frank wouldn't mind?

The lyrics for romantic fatigue and sunshine state are slightly different, iirc.

I have the four track version somewhere, should really find it out.

If I remember correctly, Sunshine State was all pretty positive, and then suddenly he chnaged the last bit to being about how she gave him cancer.

i've got this, touch me.
I think my version has six tracks. on my itunes it also has 'gap year' grouped in with it, but I think I downloaded that at some point.
the drums on 'gap year' are pretty snazzy. as is the rhyming on longing for the day.

Managed to find it online, it's really cool. Lyrics to Sunshine State are the same though, hmm.

I think you just made Evan's day by falling for that.

:?:

The original version of sunshine state was written as a love song, then Frank split up with her and the lyrics were changed to fit that.

I...yes. I don't know where I was going with that. Insomnia has been screwing up my judgement.
