I have been to a lot of gigs in 2011 so it's really hard to pick out only 5 ><

- Social Distortion + Frank Turner, Paris, July. (the day I discovered Frank)
- NoFX + Dropkick Murphys, Strasbourg, April.
- Frank Turner + The Xcerts, Heidelberg, Paris and Stuttgart, November and December. (sorry, couldn't choose only one..)
- Les Fatals Picards, Strasbourg, March. (french band)
- The Offspring + Simple Plan, Amnéville, September. (especially for the atmosphere in the crowd)

I have been giving this a lot of thought and realised I have no idea what gigs occurred in 2011. Consequently my list will be inconclusive, but here goes...

1. Half Man Half Biscuit, Shepherd's Bush Empire
2. Descendents, Brixton Academy
3. Touche Amore, The Underworld
4. The Queers, Boston Arms
5. Danzig, Download Festival (do festivals count?)

I know I am forgetting something. And Turner doesn't make the list this year because I cannot choose which one, although gets an honourable mention anyway.
Beverley, Birmingham, Blackheath, Boston, Cheltenham, Dublin, Donington, Guildford, Hatfield, Hoboken, Knebworth, Latitude, Leamington Spa, London, Manchester, New York, Nottingham, Oxford, Reading, Sayreville, Sheffield, Southend, Wembley, Wolverhampton.

Butch Walker-The Borderline-18th July
Henry Rollins-Reading Festival-August
Letlive-Reading Festival-August
City and Colour-The Royal Albert Hall-25th April
Ray Lamontagne-Royal Festival Hall-23rd February

I can't decide which FT gig was my favourite. I liked them all for different reasons :)
Also James Vincent McMorrow's gig at the Queen Elizabeth Hall should get a mention. It was great.

Wait! just remembered The Weakerthans gig at The Peel was also great. Too many to choose..

4) Noel Gallagher, Hammersmith Apollo, October
5) Billy Bragg, Leicester Academy, November

Oh god I'll seem such an arse mainly listing Frank gigs...

Frank Turner @ Santiagos, Leeds
Frank Turner @ Strummerville, London
Frank Turner @ Terraneo Festival, Sibenik
Dubioza Kolelktiv @ Terraneo Festival, Sibenik
Bedouin Soundclash @ The Cockpit, Leeds

There's a lot of Frank in there but for different reasons. Santiagos was like old times (yep I'm going there!) plus Frank acting as a jukebox. Strummerville was all about the new faces and Terraneo was brilliant enjoying so many mental people hearing him for the first time & going crazy. Honourable mention to Against Me! for their set at Barrowlands.

Dubioza Kolektiv was probably the most fun I've had dancing at a gig / festival ever. Balkan funk!

1. Frank - Whelans, Dublin
2. Frank - Cambridge Folk Festival
3. No Crows - Whelans, Dublin
4. The Low Anthem - Glastonbury
5. The Waterboys - Tower Records instore, Dublin

Could list many more, but will be good and stick to the right number.

I'd love to say I was at 5 gigs in 2011. I was technically, but most of them were Frank's shows which were all pretty awesome and hard to categorize.

What a post this turned out to be!

I'm likely (ahem) a bit older than many of the folks here, so be kind if some of my choices are a bit more mainstream....

Jeff Beck & Imelda May - Fox Theatre - Pomona, CA
Eels - Galaxy Theatre - Santa Ana, CA
Rock Candy Funk Party (Joe Bonamassa & friends) - Baked Potato - No. Hollywood, CA
Frank Turner - Glass House - Pomona, CA
Return to Forever/Zappa Plays Zappa - Greek Theatre - Los Angeles, CA
