The Stone Roses

Does anyone care?

Two shows announced at Heaton Park for June 29th and 30th. World tour and new material to follow.

Personally, I like them on record very much, but they were shocking live. Just awful.

Yup. He will.

I will undoubtedly go to a London show when it is announced as the wife is a huge fan, but I am exceptional dubious about the quality of what we will see for what is bound to be a ridiculously priced ticket.

i actually got into the stone roses by watching my older brother's blackpool 89 video over and over (where brown's lack of vocal ability is obvious) rather than listening to their studio albums (well, album), so i'm hopeful it won't ruin the experience too much for me

I liked them and may go if I don't have to go to far out of my way for it.

There was an interesting thread on the Backstreets message board (Bruce Springsteen site) recently following the break-up of R.E.M. Someone challenged people to list bands that have actually remained 'broken up'. Bands with dead members don't count.

The conclusion was that there was only four: ABBA, the Smiths, Talking Heads and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Plus Million Dead, I guess.

I quite enjoy their self titled record but definitely not enough to buy

Personally I really don't. I just don't remember them doing anything groundbreaking/new/good so can't really see what all the fuss is about...

I wouldn't mind seeing them live, but I wouldn't make the effort to do so. It was pretty good when Mani joined Ian Brown onstage for 3 Stone Roses songs at a festival a few years ago.

I need to hear Ten Storey Love Song played live before I die, so I care about the gigs!

Blur, Pulp and Skunk Anansie have helped me with other songs on my list in recent years, so I'm waiting on Catatonia to get back together, Suede to kiss and make up with Bernie and Frank to play Longing... for me.

This is true.

Bernard Butler lives round the corner from me.
