Where are you all going this summer in terms of festivals? Anyone ever travelled abroad to go to one? I was considering Oxegen or Mayhem.. problem is, it'd end up costing a fuck load.

I've been to Sonisphere past 2 years and Reading last year; got my tickets for both this year already. Reading lineup's announced on Monday. Should be good.

Benicassim was fun but you need a) fuckloads of mates to come with you and b) an apartment that you should book in December / January time.

Exit is supposedly brilliant and I've always fancied Roskilde. SXSW looks like it'd be interesting in getting a view from an industry perspective.

Quite a few people were considering Benicassim earlier in the year. Why the apartment?

It runs from 6pm - 6am. Try sleeping in a tent in July in Spain during the day. No fun.

Right now i'm looking at dot to dot, truck, 2000 trees and end of the road.

I do wonder whether Frank will be playing any of these and in what capacity he might be..

I'm going to Dot to Dot, Glastonbury, Splendour and Leeds Fest.

Quite tempted by Y Not too.

I've been to a few festivals abroad and they were good fun. Didn't camp for them though and sadly two of them no longer run. There doesn't seem to be as many idiots at them as there is for UK festivals.

I've heard good things about Lowlands Festival and Werchter.

thinking of going to Beautiful Days festival. Given up on Reading for good now I think, having been 9 times over the past 15 years.

incidentally, I just looked at all the smaller festivals that people have mentioned here and I'm shocked at the poor quality of the lineups! All festivals really have just sold out, trying to cater for the masses - for people who want to go to a festival cos its fashionable and aren't massive music fans. There's really only Download and Sonisphere that still have some integrity, and I can't go to either of those cos they're in term time!

Wow I didn't realise there was a festival in Ottery St Mary. And Franks played it more than once looking through some of the previous line ups.

Festival wise I won't be at any this year. I've done Glastonbury the last couple of years and would've paid out for it again, but saving to go travelling. I'm hoping they'll be a festival or Frank gig when we get to Aus.
Kingston - 680, SBE - 730, Union Chapel - 770, Kingston 10 - 772, Glastonbury 2010 (Queens Head - 870 / Strummerville - 871), Roundhouse (iTunes 2010) - 881, Strummerville - 1000, Kingston 11 - 1031.

Anyone off to Blissfields?

It's looking good but I can't make it. Shame.

Lots of friends are going to Benicassim so I'm toying with going there, I really want to go to Exit but can never persuade anyone else. I'm hoping I can manage to get Glasto tickets in the resalebut will probably go to 2000 Trees if not.

I think Leeds again, I'd like to go to 2000trees but its finding someone to go with.
I'm rather hoping download will do some day tickets so I can go on the Sunday, but all 3 days are out as I'm in the middle of my clinical training introduction weeks, so I'm not sure "sorry I killed your cat, but I was at download fest when they covered that bit" would go down too well.

If I don't go to Download I will cry. Myself and the wife go to Donnington every year and have a marvelous time. Couldnt give a crap whose playing. They sell cocktails. We missed it last year as we were having a baby. Now Danzig and Turner bookend the weekend...we have to go. HAVE to. Childcare is the obstacle.

Definitely going to Reading for a day. Might go to Latitude for a day. And that's it. Seems weird, as we would usually go to 4 at least per summer.
