I have a sty in my eye. Feels like someone washed my eye out with sand. And maybe put bits of fiberglass in my eyeshadow. And then said, you know what will help? Let's give it a good rinse with shampoo! And it's giving me a headache.

No good! Try applying moist heat when you can--that's supposed to help.

So, for months I was convinced that I was going crazy a la Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind--my car went and died on me, and upon taking it to the shop to see what was wrong with it, the mechanic literally could not get it to duplicate the error. I started confining my trips in my car to only those that I could take on surface streets, because if my car was going to just up and die on me again in the middle of the road, 45 mph collisions sounded safer than 90 mph collisions.

I had just started to relax. Then, on Wednesday morning, as I was driving to work, waiting at a stop light, the car started shaking and sputtering, the engine attempting to maintain itself, revving and stopping, until lights started to flick on and off on my instrument panel... and then they all came on as the engine came to a solid stop. 0 rpm. Not able to start. The lady who had come to a stop behind me--her front bumper bare inches from the rear or my car--was not best pleased. I managed to get the car to start (somewhat) and to limp through the intersection and into a parking lot. I proceeded to wait an hour and a half for the family tow truck driver (quite a statement when you don't have a family doctor but you've got the tow driver's number programmed), stuck in morning traffic, to come get me.

The verdict? Fuel pump problem. The car has two of them--only one of them is broken. $650 or more.

I guess the positive is that I wasn't hallucinating car problems.

Update: So they replaced the fuel pump, and the car will start, and idle... but nothing else. So I am without my own car for the entire week, while the shop is closed. And of course, there's the issue of it likely being more money.

There should be a place where those of us not feeling jolly or merry or especially happy could escape to this week. Some of us don't have all the required elements of a happy Christmas: a fireplace
a tree all lit up
a group of singing friends drinking eggnog
a family that loves and supports us to spend it with
great memories of Christmases past
snow
peace on earth

Thought it would be rude in light of all the "I have hope" posts appearing on Facebook, to post there, but HOORAY for this thread.

Sick of the holidays. Such an in-your-face reminder of people or things missing from your life. And this New Year's is crap too. I'm on call at the hospital for work, and people tried to fucking self destruct all night. *sigh*

And no live gigs to go to for a month.
shows? 90 so far...

Just ending my 11th week in hospital. Now in a different hospital (I was moved to Oxford) but fucking fed up of it all and just want to go home, to the pub, to not be in constant pain.

Oh, and I'd quite like to be able to move my legs again. Fucker. This attack is worst than the last, no sensation or movement (except pain and spasms) from the my diaphragm down (T3 for anyone that means anything to). Hoping I'll recover quickly having done this all before, but also fearful that I've lost the fight, and the fire, that I had in me.

Just needed to get that off my chest - everything is fucking shit.

I was thinking of you the other day, Suze. Didn't realise you were still in hospital. That's shit. Get better. We're all barracking for you.

I'd do what she says, Evan. I've heard she gets violent when she doesn't get her way.

Take heed from Hindi, Evan. Val has even been known to *whispers* throw tomatoes in people's faces in an American diner in the middle of the night. Nothing but trouble, that one.

"Valerie posted the picture of my face covered in tomato juice after she threw a tomato at it" has got to be grounds for a post in the "Everything is shit" thread, right?
