Okay, I have to ask this question: a verse of this new song goes as follows (maybe?)

"So fuck you Hollywood
For raising us on dreams of happy endings
In postcards of the prom kings and the prom queens
For teaching us that love was free and easy"

But in If Ever I Stray you say "love is free and life is cheap"

Were you in a different state of mind when writing these two songs or has your opinion changed? Is love free?

Had to ask when I noticed the contradiction... well, it isn't so much that you contradict yourself, both times you say love is free, but in If Ever I Stray it is more of a firm statement whereas in the other you are angry to have been told/taught that - meaning you haven't found it to be true.

Just curious :)

Polaroid Picture

Man we used to be brothers
Superheros and warriors
Cowboys and indians
Train drivers everything
rolling through the endless summers

But everything changes
You got married had children
And I don't have your number
the one I can remember
Is that place you used to live with your parents

But in the stillness of the moment it takes for the polaroid picture to capture our faces forever
All the world is gonna touch on the stasis and the only thing certain is everything changes

Man they closed the astoria
At the end of last summer
The place we earned our pedigree
sealed all of our victories
a sanctuary in the center of london
now they're building a railway
To drag the vanquished adversy

And the singalongs go on but they sing different songs in a room on the other side of the city
But in the stillness of the moment it takes for the polaroid picture to capture our faces forever
All the world is gonna touch on the stasis and the only thing certain is everything changes
So honey I just need a little time to change up to the time of today.
We should savour all the triumphs and tragedies before they slip away, before they slip away.

So let go of the little distractions
hold close to the ones that you love
cos we won't all be here this time next year
so while you can take a picture of us.

So let go of the little distractions
hold close to the ones that you love
cos we won't all be here this time next year
so while you can take a picture of us.

Take a polaroid picture x3
Please take a polaroid picture
Take a polaroid picture x2
Take a picture of us to show that in days we had somewhere to go

but in the stillness of the moment make sure you take a polaroid picture and keep it with you
Every day to remind us that everything changes and the only thing certain is there was this one time,
When things were OK.
Was bored so took an acoustic version I was given and tried to figure out the lyrics, most are right but I know some bits are wrong but I went best guess. Highlighted the words I know are wrong, help a guy out?[/u]
I'd rather be the one who loves than to be loved and never even know.

We were having trouble with some of those lyrics as well (I posted an almost complete set of lyrics two pages ago), so Frank posted the real lines and set us straight.

It's:

The world has a turned a touch on it's axis.

To drag the vanquished to Versailles

So honey I just need a little time to take a little time today

Take a picture of us to show, we all want you to see where time goes

Sorry Pete - I haven't yet "thought [myself] off a cliff". I have however, been away for a while (returning at least partly because I'm broke and seem to remember Gerry having offered to buy me a pint).

I therefore decided to pick up where I left off (i.e. page 11 of this 'ere thread) and now feel the need to express my delight at its evolution. Might "Fuck you Hollywood" be a reference to the purportedly painful procedure Frank surely underwent prior to the snappage of that awesome photograph? (Speaking of which, could I be bothered to append it now, I would...but I can't.)

RyanC - what think ye of the term "Fairy Godfather"?

Anyway, back to business:

Gerry? GERRY?!?

Aw, he flubbed some of the lines, you could see it on his face. ;)

Though, I must say I prefer the line "In postcards of the jesters and the prom queens" to "In postcards of the prom kings and the prom queens". It's more in keeping with the theme of the song, plus it makes more sense.

All new misheard song lyrics

Post by Dubras3 » Sat Nov 26, 2011 7:31 am

Frank debuted yet another new song recently. It's called Cowboy Chords and he dedicated it to Chris T-T.

I like this trend of playing new songs acoustically so we can transcribe 'em easier.
Cowboy Chords

You could say I reached that time I know my trade
And that I know how to care for my guitar
And I know how to get it played

I'm comfortable and I sleep on a floor
I've played a fair few shows
And I'm gonna play more

And all along the while I was just trying to make people smile

I play Cowboy Chords
For these air conditioned words
About longing for the Prairie and living in the suburbs

I sing simple songs
About rights and wrongs
About finding that trail that leads away from everyone

And darling I know I did not give you much
I got hungry for some wandering
And I don't come back for months

And I kept your picture by my side
It's in my wallet, it's on my mind
And every song I know contains a whisper of your soul

I play Cowboy Chords
For these air conditioned words
About longing for the Prairie and living in the suburbs

I sing simple songs
About rights and wrongs
About finding that trail that leads away from everyone

And so my days slip away
They're all the same
Rolling wheels, hotel rooms
And going grey

Casting glances over my shoulders as I go
Trying not to dwell on things I do not know

I know my trade out on these _______, Cowboy Chords
I know my trade out on these _______, Cowboy Chords
I know my trade out on these _______, Cowboy Chords
I know my trade out on these _______, Cowboy Chords
I have a sneaking suspicion that Frank might say "nights and wrongs". I went with the safe bet but you never know. I don't know what that blank is in the last verse. Phonetically is sounds like "vaws".

In other news, Birmingham can't clap in time. Haha:

It's

boards

(I think) as in "treading the boards", refering to performing/entertaining - music hall/vaudeville, which would make sense :-)

thanks for posting the rest of the lyrics

Bella

(PS I think it might be nights as well.. I was right at the front & am fairly sure thats what he sang...)

I Misheard "Lying awake in crowded hotel rooms focused on tape hiss" as "Lying awake in crowded hotel rooms focused on tapas"

No idea why I just though Frank may have been a hungry insomniac

I did the same thing but heard 'tapirs', not a hungry insomniac but one fixated with animals. Bizarre. :/
