infact there support was Tesla so i guess they were the first band i ever saw live

remember been about 14 and going on my own with my mum waiting in the car for me
Was that the Hysteria tour? Saw that in Denver with Tesla supporting and all. In the round. Awesome (although Tesla sucked)

yep it was,
To say it was my first i dont remember much about it. The next gigs i went to were Testament & Anthrax or Exodus & Laaz Rocket (?) both more memorable as the moshing, headbanging and stage diving scared the crap out of me.

first festival anyone?

I went to WOMAD in 1989...then Glastonbury 1993 (which was clearly better)

Beatle Week, 2001 I think. The seven consecutive years do merge into one big happy memory in my mind.

my first concert (other than seeing friend's bands and the like) was reel big fish. not something to be proud of, but it could be a lot worse. especially considering i spent my teens in a tiny town in western colorado. i drove to las vegas when i was 18 to see morrissey which is a much cooler story.

my first festival was technically Curiosa (the one the cure did - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curiosa). then telluride bluegrass. i'm not big on festivals at all. there are a couple local ones i enjoy now, but i'd really rather not go.

coincides with my first live band, Glastonbury '95
I believe Weezer were playing that year also but by that point we'd already had the entire contents of our tent stolen and on our way home (which we then decided to return for the last day)

Very true but you'd be pretty pissed off if someone had stolen all your clothes and your bed for the weekend, valuable or not.

I was 2, I blame my parents, but we recovered quick enough, spent a few good years going to Glastonbury and staying in a B&B now we're back to camping.
Last year our neighbors got their sausage rolls and beers nicked.

But in all fairness, my cousins mate brought £500 and being a total fool (for bringing £500 in the first place) lost it as it dropped out of his pocket at some point. He went to lost and found, just to be safe... and some beautiful fantastic person had handed it in.

Bringing this thread back, after reading all of your replies, I love how across the spectrum everyone is on their "firsts" so I must share mine.

My first concert was 9/7/1993: The Anthrax "Sound of White Noise Tour" with White Zombie and Quicksand.

I was hypnotized by Sean Yseault, in an instant I fell in love with her and live music in general. I idolized her style and wanted to grow up to be a hardcore rock chick just like her. Granted, I was a very impressionable 8 years old at the time. :D

I am ashamed to say that my first gig was Paramore at the Birmingham Carling academy supported by Conditions, New Found Glory and Kids in Glass Houses. I think i was 14 at the time. I only went because the tickets were cheap, and i hadn't been to a gig before.
My first festival will be Reading in two weeks time, that is not counting the free Kerrang Festival, which i went to once.

Genesis at Wolverhampton Civic in 199(4)

I was six and had become obsessed with the little 'dance routine' to I can't dance. My dad took me I think primarily to show off to his mates that he had a cool daughter, as I was made to do said dance routine lots of times during the night.

Well I say cool...

Well I suppose technically it would have been Busted at the Britannia Stadium in 2004 I think so that would make me 8.

However my first "proper" gig was Stiff Little Fingers at the Sugarmill in 2009 it was brilliant, got to the very front in front of Ali. My ears didn't stop ringing for about 2 days, it was a great moment being there with my Dad though as he went to see SLF at least twice a year if they were touring and he'd always come home with a pick or something and to actually be there with him and not just hearing him talk about it was a little surreal.

I think that makes up for my error of judgement in going to see Busted. :D
