New series of "The Thick Of It" a week on saturday. Good that.

Also, anyone hear that Ridley Scott is going to Hollywoodize "Red Ridiing"?

really? good move i think - the channel 4 trilogy recently was bloody good. at the time i thought it was odd it wasn't made into a film - it was too 'dark' and a bit too short for a tv series, and too good for a tv one off. also, everything else by david peace has been / is being made into a film, so why not the red riding books.

It was brilliant though! Sean Bean. I once saw Paddy Considine at a Matlock Town football match, under the same church where they filmed Dead Man's Shoes. IT WAS AWESOME.

See I'm not sure that they should make a movie out of Red Riding, especially so soon after the TV series because the TV series was really good. Not an easy watch thematically or narratorially but thoroughly provoking and engrossing...if it ain't broke, why fix it?

The show I'm getting into atm is True Blood about Vampires in the deep south. Perfect antidote to all that Twilight nonsense - it's HBO and is 2 episodes into the first season on Channel 4 atm - worth a watch for the opening credits alone:

I'm just rediscovering the absolute unbridled painfulness and hilarity of My New Best Friend.
If you missed it the first time round (which was a while ago, so some of you young'uns may well have done) I highly encourage you to search it out on 4od and then sit back and enjoy cringing to within an inch of your life.
