:D :) :( :o  :? 8) :x :P

I hate these fucking things. Am I alone? I know I have definitely used them in the past, but I feel shame for that

in general i really like emoticons (i'm not proud) but i don't like it when an app (mail client, bulletin board, etc) replaces them with graphics.

which should i vote?
I tend to get on with everyone, although I don't like all the chat from the Diana Circle - they say lots of nasty things about Camilla Parker Bowles, and talk about conspiracies, and play Candle In The Wind a lot.

The odd one never did anyone any harm, but then again, eww.

Lock's use of the :) smilie is wonderful though.

My issue is with people who seem to rely on them to make their point. The odd one here and there I have no issue with, but it's when people can not post without putting a :? or a  or something get right on my tits

You forgot to include  at the end of that.

I agree with Jammus. I don't mind people using them, but I'm not sure why people feel the need to use them say three times or more in a two line post.

I don't 'love' them but I definitely think they're useful in getting across points and showing what you actually mean.

I don't get the whole "OMFFFFG, U USE SMILIES, UR SO UNCOOL, LOLOL" thing. (Not saying you're saying that Evan)

They're pretty handy for showing when you're mucking about...means people are less likely to take offence.
